In my eyes the only understandable reason to change the already existing rules toward multiboxing is when there are so many boxer that it harms the daily game experience of regular players.Originally Posted by Obnoxious

Which is exactly what I said - you're playing just one character, and having external programs replicate what you're unable to do on your own. You are making no effort whatsoever to play those other characters beyond the effort a player playing a single character does. Automated replication is, guess what, automation.
Of course in your eyes the only reason would be something that you know won't happen.
When u think about it its the only reason that would make it necessary to adjust the current rules.
I haven't read any of the replies, but I voted "No" for the sole reason that it makes other players sit in the queue just because x multiboxes 5 shamans. another reason could be that they can just solo instances and farm money really quick, but that wouldn't affect the other players, i guess.
Also, against that blizzlike argument, you also have to remember that the guys on blizzard have to pay for the extra accounts in order to multibox.
Tbh if I encounter a MBer in the open world, as a 1PERSON vs 1PERSON I don t see all this difference between MB and a drop hack or other kind of hacks. There is just no match.

I wish that this even being a possibility would have been mentioned before I had /played (1 day, 2 hours, 13 minutes, 54 seconds) leveling five ferals to 20. I've been an obligate multiboxer for several years now, (on Warmane, retail, and elsewhere) and had been tossing around the idea try 5 ferals for a long time since I think they would be up there up with, if not the most difficult class/spec to box. Lordaeron looked like my chance to actually attempt this in the most challenging possible way. I've been having so much fun working through the logistics and macros for the last few days that it's going to be hard to resist playing and leveling until this all gets sorted out.
Just for the fun and art of it, yes I said "art", I already multibox using barest of bones software to broadcast a dozen or so keystrokes to each client and rely on everything else with in-game macros using /focus and /assist. I've daydreamed for a long time how I could get around even this. One possible way would be to multibox on Linux and make some changes to the OS keyboard driver to multiplex a certain few keys to the wow clients. Another way, which would be a really fun project in itself, would be to have five low-powered computers each running a wow client with it's own mouse and keyboard connected, but the identical keyboards would be stacked in a housing I would design. Each keyboard could be carefully drilled and modified to have a few vertical push rods press every one of that specific key in the stack. I could still change leads by changing /focus in a macro, grabbing another mouse, and looking at another monitor. This would involve zero software, would be one human physically operating each computer mechanically, and would coordinate the toons exclusively through in-game macros and keybindings without compromising my methods and playstyle at all. Would limits be put on even this sort of a setup?
As a side note, the WOTLK client was a huge gift from Blizz to the multiboxing community back in 2010. The addition of click-to-move + Interact with target and many other /assist /target latency improvements that oneboxers would never have noticed made multiboxing more practical, as well as making melee boxing feasable for the first time. A hard-core, WOTLK realm is a strange place to start putting in unblizzlike restrictions based on some players' personal whims and misunderstandings. It seems an opinion poll like this would be better suited to a high-rate, safe-harbor realm.
Actually that would effect is in a very long run. They earn gold faster and easier than us, so if a multiboxer wanted to be a dick, which there will be, they could use all their gold to buy all the important crafting reagents and then list them for some stupid amount. Eventually, this is why I said in the long run, this would just break the economy.
Sadly, thought it is a very unfair advantage, it doesn't qualify as a hack :/
so if a multiboxer wanted to be a dick
so if a multiboxer
if
could
would
You're implying a lot here!
If my dog was cat then ...
Farming money too easy/fast bring the same issue of BOTS. It is called inflaction, It nerf the value of the gold farmed by all those regular players that have farmed it with effort and time.
Inflaction still a main concern for Blizzard and many private servers.

lol?
I implied one fact. A fact that can very easily be true. That's not a lot.
But it is true, anyone can end up being that much of a dick to attempt to destroy an economy, and out of every legal way possible a Multiboxer is the best way to get their hands on the most amount of gold.
Just because Blizz do not qualify it as hack? Think about that: tomorrow Blizzard decide thath all those Multiboxer Third Party Software are no more allowed.
It mean that tomorrow MB third party software are not different from any hack software.
I'am a Blizzard fun since 1998 and I remember well the 0zero tollerance to third part software policy by Blizzard in many games before wow.

Interesting point
"Multiboxer are the reason for the inflated prices in the AH."
Thats really the biggest nonsense that I have heard in a while.
I suggest u to start multiboxing to check if ur statements have even a germ of truth.
Leveling alchemy for example 1 by 1 for 20 characters
IS NOT THE SAME AS
Leveling alchemy on 20 characters at the same time.
Also:
Using your alchemy transmutation one by one on each of your 20 characters is NOT the same as logging them all together and using it.
You might argue that it's the same thing. However, 1 is more tedious than the other and would put a lot of people off. I mean...who would want to log 20 chars 1 by 1 and do alchemy stuff...EVERY SINGLE DAY! A multiboxer will just log all 20 at the same time and bang.
As was suggested before, make it a limit of 5 characters. It's more than enough. 5 is a good number since a BG premade is 5 players usually.
Retail does allow multiboxing but don't think it's not limited. It IS limited unless you are rich. Over here it's free and hence there's no limit on how many accounts and characters you can use. Would you make 20 accounts on retail and pay monthly for them? Most likely not. Would you do it here? Well why not!
Please...I think it's about time to end this before people level over 10 chars for nothing lol. If anything, just set a limit of 5 :)
