1. Lord population compared to blizzard's

Since i have heard all kinds of ridiculous stories of blizzard having from 20 000 up to one guy told me 300 000 people online in a server i checked and even though they never officially announced their current population in numbers (most likely to avoid players choosing to play always on highest pop realms and leaving the rest empty or similar reasons) i red several threads on battlenet forums about this subject from 2011-2013 and i am left with the very believable according to me numbers of 5000 up to 8000 for the highest population realms and i red somewhere around at 6000 and more players the lag becomes noticeable thats from a 2011 comment. And by the way there are many low pop realms which peak at 1000 players so overall Lordaeron now seems to be as good as even the high population blizz servers

  2. Well, speaking about lag on Blizzard's servers - that's the main reason why i can't play on retail. I tried subscribing for a couple of times but it didn't work out because i always had a slight delay on everything. Never had this problem on molten/warmane or any other private server for that matter, so you be the judge. I'd rather donate for warmane and play bugged but lag free game rather than bug free but with noticeable lag.
p.s. My internet is not the problem.

  3. take the current subscriptions and divide them by the amount of eu and us based servers and you will see that even now during times where the subscriber are lowest even the average is higher than 8k

so no blizzard servers dont have such low numbers some realms may have others may even be way lower than that but in turn other servers that are crowded are ****ing packed and have triple or even more the numbers than the lower ones.

tl:dr -> blizzard has way more

p.s. My internet is not the problem.
thats what people always say ^^

bcus your connection to other games or other servers works it cant be your connection completely disregarding the fact that your provider could be routing you through some ****ty nodes to that specific server ;)

Ok if warmane counts the active users on Lord like blizzard does with their subscriptions they will be around 3 times the peak amount of the server but lets be pessimistic and say 15 000 players and after i did your calculation it turns out Lord has more players then blizzard average server, hm i bet thats not what you expected to hear

  5. Blizz have cross-realm feature which merges players from different realms into 1 zone, so the world never feel empty. Sure there are realms with >1000 players but that doesnt matter because you can play/invite in parties or raids people from other realms and play side by side.

Almost never had this happen myself to be honest, and I've been playing retail for many years. It must have something to do with your location and connection.

My country has one of the best (if not the best, not sure about the year 2015) internet speed in the world and i switched a couple of internet providers here in the past 6 years and still had the same problem.

Because all of them are actively connected at every single moment, right? That's the only way for your argument to have any validity.

Hmm aight then. May still be your location tho. Delay may exist when you are far far away from the Retail server locations. Otherwise I have no idea what could be the cause, but I personally haven't had lots of lag/delay problems on Blizz servers.

  10. The only way you would lag is A) Internet ping B) Location(which causes higher ping)
A, you could have the fastest internet the world, but still get high ping because your internet provider just doesn't have good ping.
B, you live far away from the servers. If you are in EU trying to play on US servers, I don't care if you had google fiber internet, you would still get 100+ms

I will assume it is your location, google around for "wow tunneling" it may help you.

On topic: Sure, Warmane may be comparable to some of the dead realms, but the active realms, Stormrage, Illidan, etc.. it's not even close. Warmane can never reach the server population of servers like that.

  11. I played on Sylvanas EU. There were ALOT of people online, definitly more than I have ever seen online on any private server (including old molten ragnaros).
At a certain time there was a queue of 2500 people.... that moment I decided to take a free transfer to Genjuros EU......... I want to bet it did not even have 1.5k players online, it was a dead place :p

About delay/lag: Sylvanas EU was quite laggy during wotlk time, it was not an issue for me only, but the whole server had issues with it happening. Complete freezes of seconds long (worst time of the year: valentine's... there was a bug causing freezes) were "frequent" (atleast once a month played).

  12. I also had lags on retail. It was smth weird..my ms was <30 but it still did not feel smooth. Looting corpses caused delays but I read that it was common issue for everyone - called loot lag. But I also had delays on spells, once I pressed for example Ambush it went off instantly but dmg numbers, target HP loss and info in combat log appeared with slight delay. It didnt matter on which server I was playing, I tried low, medium and high populated ones but still these weird delays occurred. I have 50mbs internet, servers I tried were in Europe, there were only 2-3 countries between my country and blizz server.

Someone told me my internet provider may have bad connection with the servers, but I doubt that because I traced connection and everything looked normal.
Some also suggested to change internet card in PC. I have 0 clue what that card does, I have old PC but I upgraded some of the hardware except internet card because I thought it is not that useful for gaming if you have good internet.
Can someone give a comment about internet card, can it cause weird delays? Is it worth upgrading?
Btw I dont have that kind of delays on Warmane, everything works smoothly.
