We don't need more lag.
From the western side of the world, I play daily with a 190ms ish ping. Every Sunday afternoon the game starts kicking over 350ms.
Maybe the euros barely notice it.
we notice it, especially as a melee the desync is sometimes completely crazy...
190ms.. amgad unplayable.. 350ms so crazy!
wait... didn't I play WoW for all those years just like that?
never mind, keep whining :]
ehh, it's always like that - if "western world" gets over 100ms they cant play at all, but when "eastern world" gets around 500ms they.. well they finally happy about low ms :>

Thats funny :D but you know i am from Bulgaria and my ms has always been around 60 but even if it gets up to a 300 i still don't complain, the game is well optimized for playing even with high ms
46-49 ms in the Mexico of Europe (Poland), but sometimes it's a bit laggy despite low ms.
Last week I had 1-2K ms, now that was unplayable xD
Server is in France i believe so it's close. I have 30 ms and i'm from Sweden :)
We've just recently increased the cap from 6,000 to 7,000 following a major performance improvement. However, I believe we're quite happy with the current cap while still maintaining a decent server side latency of around 150-200ms at peak. More performance improvements will be coming so we can increase the cap even further while reducing server side latency (which currently scales exponentially after around 6,000ish players due to a few particularly bad systems that need reworking).
no cap expansion is needed, but to do just one thing... you'll get it after you see the screenshots below

and i'm sure there are at least 10 people like those
i also made a suggestion regarding that. if you agree with me, support it and maybe we can get that change that would allow people to play, instead of sitting in queues

Thanks for the news Takenbacon :)
Sadly for you, he is the only one like this. And this is the wrong topic to post screenshots like this, the multibox flaming topic is below.
Your comparsion is a little bit off.
First you have to know that Lordaeron is running on ONE machine.
A realm on retail is running on multiple different machines which together form one realm. (World server, dungeons and raids, etc.) -- Load balancing how it should be and what a private server will never see probably.
Warmane realms/server are/were not bigger than retail realms.
If you scale it down to one machine the server running cost for Warmane are pretty low per realm. You can simply not compare those two things.
You can see that Lordaeron goes nuts when they are target of the LOIC. ;-)
This is the provider they are using: https://www.ovh.co.uk/dedicated_servers/game/ (Just an example)
They core they are using proofed to be stable on a fully expanded WOTLK server with 4,5k players online 5 YEARS AGO!
One must consider that increasing pop amount in the early stages of Lordaeron will also affect in the later stages.
If they can keep that population which is currently playing they might have to reduce the cap when content is actually released.

I am inviting you to gather 4,5k players and go stresstest any opensource core. I am willing to bet you will notice heavy lag at 3k players already, if not earlier. As far as stability goes, we made many crash fixes before we even launched the realm. Without those fixes you could never call it stable.
Seems to me there is a lot of mis-information floating around without any actual idea of what the reality looks like. You should also know that releasing more continents and content in theory either doesn't affect performance at all or even gives us a performance boost instead of a reduction, thanks to more parallel processing. Grid loading is not an issue for us at all.
