Deathwing and Ragnaros

Hey all,

I'm just kinda curious at what point will these two servers merge?

Right now at peak they are roughly at 3500 population each and roughly 1500 at off peak times.

Since they have now proven that the servers can handle up to 7000 population and maintain good stability wouldn't a merge be a welcome idea to help with the low off peak population? or too soon just yet?

I absolutely agree, however you are wrong about the numbers at peak times, they are way lower sadly, thus I find this idea very very good and useful. What is the staffs position on this one?

Lordaeron's core can, currently, handle that population. This is without released TBC & WotLK content and areas, which means the server is not required to support as much populated zones & instances as Ragnaros and Deathwing do. Additionally, Lordaeron's core is much newer than the one that Ragnaros and Deathwing are currently running on. So no, currently, it is not going to work. The population of Ragnaros and Deathwing are still at an appropriately acceptable population level, their cores would not support a combined population, and we're not prepared or interested to invest the resources and divert attention to this when it isn't absolutely necessary.

Mercy, that's exactly what I'm afraid of. Everyone is losing their **** about the amount of people online on Lordaeron, and none of them even think about the fact that Lordaeron is on 1/3 of it's content without any of the heavy raid scripts (Sunwell, EoE, Ulduar, ICC.)
I do hope that it will be able to support 7k once it's complete because that would mean merging DW+Ragnaros as well and having 2x 7k WotLK realms, but I somehow feel like it won't go past 5k.

When time comes they will merge Deathwing and Ragnaros. Most likely when those servers gets Lordaeron core which wont happen before this year ends, everyone will benefit from merging realms, more population will please everyone, less queue in rdf, battleground, arena.

You say that I'm wrong, but you'll see in due time. The population is already well spread out on Lordaeron.

Sooner or later, it will end up merging Deathwing and Ragnaros. But if they do it while people may go to queues due to merged population. it may cause loss in more number of players. So they are kind of developing core to handle 7-8k players online in a realm. so don't expect anything about merge in next 6 months honestly. wait for the developers to finish on their job.

@realm merging: just wait for deathwing and ragnaros to get on the lordaeron core when it is a fixed up wotlk core. I want to bet those 2 realms will NOT be low on population amymore.

Yes, he loves to contradict. Either way, correct or otherwise, it's not realistic to merge the two realms as they are and it would be appreciated if people would stop asking for it.
