Well, we gotta keep the dungeons open for achievement sake. So, I would agree to reduce the ilvl of the drops to the original dungeons, but Keep In Mind that the ilvl increase in the dungeons comes with mobs and bosses that have higher hp, higher damage, and stronger mechanics (lol). That being said, I say leave the difficulty the way it is, SO pre-ToC (raid) the dungeons are a "challenge" and possibly a bragging right OR a small Raid-Check for Guilds. I mean if you can clear them in pre-Naxx gear, then you must have something going for you.
But, isn't ToC (dungeon) a catch up dungeon as well? I didn't play WotLK until I get to Molten so I missed out on true progression, but I'm sure that dungeon serves the same purpose as FoS/PoS/HoR but for the previous raid? If so, we'll have to address that too, and any other "catch-up" dungeons I don't know about.
Also, to coincide with badges, I do like the heroism idea. Buttt what about gear you get from the higher emblems? Maybe badge earning could be a part of this "attunement" system as well, but make it for each individual player (of course) so that people only earning Heroism badges can run with those able to earn Frost (for an example). This would be to prevent high queue times, etc. like how arenas work. Once you progress to a certain rank/mmr you seldom fight people lower than you, so you have to wait ages for someone equivalent to join the queue.
yeah id say the same goes for TOC 5 which i forgot to mention, fos/pos/hor/toc5 should all get nerfed to 200ilvl HC.
the queue isn't really a problem as you wont be able to use dungeon finder anyways.
or the other alternative: attunement system, so it would be naxx -> ulduar -> Toc5/toc raid -> icc/fos/pos/hor
both really work, and id love it if this actually got on a pull or something
Ever heard of emblems mate? FOS POS and HOR give equal or lower quality than emblems loot. So unless you want to get rid of emblems too (which would be a joke...) then this doesn't matter, old raids will be irrelevant since badges loot is of higher quality

ever heard of progression mate? all emblems were not released at the start of the expansion on retail and neither will they be released here (because that would be a joke...)

At the release of Wotlk close FoS/PoS/HoR and reward emblem of heroism for HC dungeons.
Once ICC is open reward emblem of triumph for HC dungeons and open FoS/PoS/HoR.
Problem solved.

To be honest then TOC instance will be closed as well.... They need to release 5 mans progressivly as well since people will rush TOC and POS/FOS/HOR runs...

Yeah. Warmane needs to be careful that only the quests, dungeons etc for the certain patch are available.
When Naxx is released they need to make sure that everything that wasnt available at the release of Naxx on retail is here also disabled.
Wotlk probably won't happen this year, so let's wait for TBC and then think about Wotlk, im sure they know what was available back then and will release accordingly. Most of the staff played on retail so they know what's up.
Why they can't just copy-paste how it looked on retail with wotlk expanion launch ? Do exactly the same progression like retail had, with even longer period between 3.0/ 3.1/ 3.2 and 3.3 - that would solve the problem that everyone are worried about and since we'll be stuck with ICC forever, make it look like retail looked back then. Wouldnt it be awesome ? I know devs can do it and if they need more time we can even be stuck on TBC for next 2 month.
Echoes of Doom (Patch 3.0.2) for like 3/4 months > Secrets of Ulduar (Patch 3.1.0 ) for 6 months > Call of the Crusade (Patch 3.2.0) 6 months > Fall of the Lich King (Patch 3.3.0) sadly forever. That would solve all of those random ideas in this thread..
Releasing content (dungs/raids/pvp/gear/tokens and things) like blizzard did according to pataches would make this server real hardcore progression..
I wonder why you think that the staff doesn't know all this **** and won't do it that way? :O There are plenty of sources to what was available at what patch and quite a bit of private servers were able to simulate retail progression. It's as if you've never seen a progressive realm...

I think this is essentially the release plan they already have, but I'm not sure of it.
I would advise more caution when you start speculating about what the devs can/cannot do though.
It's really not as simple as "copy-pasting" what it looked like on retail at the time.

No idea whether they know or dont know. They do not communicate with us like they said after moltdown they will.
None from the stafff anwered a single question asked here or dispelled our concerns about how is it going to looks like.
As long as RDF isn't enabled, I don't think releasing the catch-up dungeons really matters that much. I don't believe many people really want to run Naxxramas until they have the gear for Ulduar, etc. when ICC is already out. Unless you're getting carried, it's unrealistic to just get full gear from a raid tier in a week or two. That's kind've where the catch-up heroics help. Without RDF they still have a daily lockout, and you're still limited on the gear rewards since you can't pick what drops and what you win the roll on. With RDF you could just random queue the ICC heroics endlessly all day until you had full gear which would trivialize it, but when it's not there I really don't think it's that big of a deal. Releasing it without relevant gear will make nobody want to run it short of for achievements sake. Also, I think emblems that drop for heroic bosses should update with the raid tier. Farming them really isn't that fast, you're not going to get all the Emblem of Conquest gear possible on the first day or something.
With no catch-up dungeons or updated dungeon badges, you would have no option besides your weekly Naxx raid and crafted items from higher tiers to get gear to improve your character. As long as RDF is not in the game, I think those catch-ups are fine because they don't speed things up by in insane amount, but cut the time you have to farm gear between tiers down to like two weeks (which I don't see a problem with when it's not the end tier raid). Even if you farm Trial of the Champion every day, you can only do it once and the bosses don't drop their entire loot table. With the wide variety of drops they have, and the 1 drop limit per boss, you can't expect to get more than a few pieces from there before you're already moved on to the next tier. It just gives another option, similar to badges, other than strictly relying on the gear from Naxxramas or whatever tier you're geared for. However, I do agree with attunements to an extent. The only problem is Ulduar. I haven't played other private servers, but during my retail experience of WotLK, many players who even killed the Lich King still weren't capable of killing Yogg-Saron. So while the idea is good, because I think you should have to conquer the previous tier to move on, I'd expect an exception of some sort like rather than full clearing Ulduar you just have to kill all of The Keepers or something similar.
