do you have this website open while playing? in my case, it ruins my fps if it's open, while when closed it's normal. for some reason, animations on this website are terrible and take up a lot of resources, especially if you have multiple tabs of it open
Definitely some setting are not how they should be,i use R7 370 Strix and FX 6100 six core and i have this results when i am farming or leveling(Down left on the pic),also i have custom settings in-game and i run the game on SSD 120 GB.It drops by 15-20 if its crowded in Orgrimar,SW,Dalaran or any major city and BG's to.Note i can overclock my card and processor with that i get around 120 FPS 90 in crowded areas, maybe you should try that or ask someone who knows to overclock AMD had new update now its easy to set it up little bit hotter but smoother :P.
As much as I value your response, it is not really related to my question; you are playing a different xpac, with lower settings, a much lower resolution, you are looking at the floor with only two mobs around, etc.
I can play Cata or Pandaria at near-ultra settings with no fps drops, but we are talking about WoTLK here, which has a different engine.
I have played with the clock frequency of my card, I have overclocked and underclocked it, and it makes no difference to my FPS.
I'm moving this up again, just to see if someone has any idea...
I found it amusing that my GPU runs at around 1000MHz, but if I underclock it to 500MHz, I still get the same fps.
And my CPU cores are still far away from being maxed. Yahoo.
Might as well share your gpu and cpu here. Wow is a cpu intensive game, doesnt utilize multiple cores well and from the sound of it sounds like your cpu bottlenecks. So yah what kinda cpu do you have?

It's in the first page, i7 4790K. I've tried to enable/disable hyperthreading and it's the same ****.

Yah no fking way that CPU bottlenecks anything. Im running an older generation i7-950 with the MSI r9 290 and while i have no issues in dalaran i do have occasional AVs that the frame goes down to 22fps.
I'd like to say wotlk poor optimization or poor recent win10 drivers. Other than that Im pretty sure it's not hardware related, especially if more demanding games lock 60 and never move from it.

I have horrible FPS in wrath... my cata/mop/wod all run perfect with 60 fps on ultra.. But Wrath I get 40ish on low in raids.
I honestly think its just bad direct x 12 ****, its not backwards compatible with wrath. There is no way my fps should suck this bad with my R9 270.
mmhh weird.... I have the R9 270 aswell, frame rate in wotlk (no matter where) is always perfect. I combined it with fx 4300.
topic opener, how much ram do you have? and do you have this website running in the background while playing? and most ***** question of all: did you plug your screen cabld in the right graphics thing?
I beliebe i7's have integrated graphics aswell :p might be using those if you are out of luck.

There are several versions of DX and games use whatever they ask for. Anyway you can change the renderer to OpenGL (/console gxapi opengl, /console gxrestart) and it'll be the same.

16GB, and no, whatever I have in the background should not make a difference. I even remember the good ol' times of Windows 7 when you could disable desktop compositing, starting with 8 it is mandatory, and it means around -5 fps, but only if you don't play in fullscreen mode. Anyway I have tried it with and without fullscreen mode and it's roughly the same.
I also have tried to play using the integrated Intel GPU and for whatever reason I get around 5 fps everywhere, but I imagine it's because I don't have those drivers installed...
This webpage is sucking quite some power, because of the moving lordaeron thingy.... that is why ;)
Anyway, I find it weird that it is a problem then! Hope you will soon find the issue and be able to solve it.
