you are using this "ctrl-2" as Macro with [mod] or directly from the WoW-KeyBinding's setting menu?
Maybe you are using a software in backgroung which use that bind, I will make an example with what happened to me:
Some years ago for some reason my binding Alt+Y wasnt working anymore on WoW, then I found out the problem was caused by a plugin I had installed on Winamp which has as Shortcut Alt+Y. So anytime I pressed Alt+Y was having effect only on Winamp rather than WoW.
So I had to decided if uninstall that plug-in or if never listen music on Winamp while playing WoW
He said that he can use the key binding separately so that doesn't seem to be the case. Unless some shortcut is set to ctrl+W and it stops sending ctrl to game.
It could be keyboard ghosting. It usually happens when keyboard is physically unable to distinguish another key pressed when multiple keys are already pressed. It happens with specific key combinations. You can check it with a demo at the top of this page.
you are right, I thought the problem was just ctrl-2, and not "W" + ctrl-2. My bad
