Are vehicles supposed to be able to attack players of this opposite faction?

I have been killed three times now by vehicles. Two deaths were caused by http://wow.gamepedia.com/Kor'kron_War_Rider in Icemist Village. I unfortunately forgot to take a screenshot.

Third death was caused by a shredder; below.

I could be wrong, but I distinctly remember getting killed by people mounted on the mammoth in Borean Tundra on retail.

I'm not sure about these other two cases you have pointed out though.
