1. Well then, I'd be inclined to think you aren't playing the MM Hunter class at its peak. Damage from spreading DoTs and AoE also less often counts towards actually achieving a kill, so it'd be disingenuous to imply that because a Moonkin excels at dishing out damage, that it's actually an effective BG class. In terms of on-demand Burst/CC to quickly snipe out an enemy healer or some other critical target, MM Hunters are generally better-equipped.
A full pve geared moonkin has enough crit and haste to dish out some enormous burst dmg on single targets by spamming wrath and starfire.
The advantage of a pve geared moonkin is that he can burst single targets down like a destro lock, has also the option to spread dots on multiple targets like a affli lock and in addition has massive aoe dmg with starfall.
In smaller BG's like AB and EotS most of the encounters tend to be 3v3, 4v4, 3v4, etc - fights small enough where not only is the effectiveness of your AoE more limited, but where the likelihood of you being singled out as a choice of target to focus on is much higher. Both these issues are a lot less cause for concern on a Hunter.
I have done plenty of BGs as full pve geared hunter and as full pve geared moonkin on blackrock. The majority of them were 10 and 15 man bgs because 40 man bgs hardly pop up on blackrock
Trust me, Moonkin doesnt need large scale battles to shine. When a moonkin spread his dots on +3 targets and use starfall in combination with wrath spam then he does like twice the dmg of a pve geared hunter.
If people are on to you having 0 resil and decide to train you to shut you down, as a Moonkin you're more or less fu*ked, whereas a Hunter actually has several tools perfectly suited to extricating himself out of such situations. Doesn't help that the Moonkin Form visual does an excellent job serving as a huge, flagrant "I'M THE GUY YOU WANT TO BE KILLING" sign.
Well, I agree that the moonkin is ****ed when he gets focused. He has no ability like deterrence and disengage as life saver.
On the other hand the moonkin can heal. While a pve geared hunter just dies from dots and also from indirect dmg, the moonkin is able to heal up.

Not sure if u even tested a full pve geared moonkin yet. Maybe u should do that first before u come to a conclusion.
I dont say that pve geared MM hunter are bad for BGs. They are awesome, but a pve geared Moonkin is just more awesome. :D

  2. Aren't you restricted to ilevel 264 PVE gear on Blackrock?? That's not exactly BiS. Starfire/Wrath spamming don't compare to the tunneling damage of a Hunter, or a destro lock for that matter. Eclipse is unreliable as hell, and hardcasting in that proximity just increases your vulnerability - and this is the advantage Hunters have over most other ranged DPS that allows them to get away with wearing as little defensive stats as possible. Moonkin DoTs also tickle compared to a class that's actually DoT based in this patch like a Spriest or an Aff lock.

Since you asked, I've actually had rather extensive experience with Moonkins in both PVE and PVP, throughout not just this patch, but also the next two expansions. If you played Cata or MoP at all, you'd see what actual Moonkin multi-dotting was. To compare Moonfire and Insect Swarm to Aff lock DoTs in this patch, however, is about as silly as it gets. Moonkins have a strong niche with excellent pressure every minute with Starfall. Outside of that they heavily lack the tools that make other specs work so effectively. My point isn't necessarily that Balance is a spec less suited to BG's than Marksmanship, but more that realistically, it's not as feasible to play with as little defensive stats on a Moonkin as it is with any Hunter.

  3. Well, maybe u should refresh ur moonkin experience. Not sure if u have ever done a bg as a complete pve geared moonkin on wotlk.
For me it seems more that ur statements about moonkin are based on assumptions.
Just test it and then come to a conclusion.

  4. I don't think I've ever come across a moonkin that was actually hard to kill. Starfall is easily interruptible, their dots don't do much damage, and unless they're stacking haste then wrath/starfire are easy to interrupt.

No completely pve geared player is hard to beat in 1v1. Beside prot warr and rog maybe.
