1. Display Driver Stopped Responding And Has Recovered

Hi all, in the past I have tried to help others on here or point them in the right direction but now I have a problem of my own...

The game and my PC was just fine before all this happened.
I am able to play for around 5-10 minutes until the screen flickers/WoW minimizes and a message on the bottom right of the desktop says the following:

"Display Drier Stopped Responding And Has Recovered:
Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 359.06 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

And then I can't get back into the game. Sometimes though the message goes away and when I get back into WoW the frame rate has shot down drastically to 1fps on high settings and 5-6fps on low settings. I can then exit the game and get back into it afterwards and play comfortably for a few minutes until the message pops up again and the frame rate issue occurs. Either way the game is unplayable with this happening

    - At first I updated my video driver which was a few months outdated from NVIDIA's site but that didn't solve the issue
    - I have all the current Windows updates
    - This is only happening with WoW, all my other games are working perfectly fine
    - I deleted my WoW client and used a new backup copy
    - Scanned for viruses (using Malwarebytes and AVG)
    - My PC gets enough airflow and I regularly maintain it
    - I've never had any problems at all in the past relating to WoW
    - I've been playing WoW on this same PC for nearly 3 years. I have been able to comfortably raid and BG etc. on high settings while running other programs in the background. It's fairly decent.

    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    Intel Core i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz
    4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M version 359.06

Help me out. I want to get back to playing this fantastic game again.

    Thanks in advance

  2. at this point why do not try to use the Original NVIDIA driver you had when you bought this notebook? I do not know the "english" name fo this setting it should be like "Restore Driver", even thought it may generate some problem since it will be a driver for Windows 8 and now you have 8.1. ( I am assuming your notebook had W8 as native OS)
Anyway, which WoW client is giving you this problem? Wotlk, Cata or MoP? try to play a different Expansion, set again all high video settings and see if this Error occur again, so Example: if you are having this problem with MoP then try to play on Wotlk/Blackrock, play bgs and wait.
In this way we can figure out if your problem is caused by just that Client or if it is a real "NVIDIA" problem

  3. 359.06 are the newest drivers. If I was yu I'd rollback your drivers to 310.90 and see if that helps.

My AMD drivers crash every now and then however they recover and it doesnt really affect gameplay.

    Yes, that is correct.

I'm only using the MoP client at the moment. Thanks I will try the Wrath/Cata client and give that a shot and see if I get anywhere after I download one of them (I don't have the other expansion clients anymore)

Was only able to rollback to 359.00. I'm not sure exactly how to rollback to 310.90. But by going back that far, are you sure that wouldn't have a negative impact on performance?
Have a second message popping up with it now: "Application Wow.exe has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" (Might be because of the rollback)

  5. but you still haven't tried yet to just get a new MoP client from here https://www.warmane.com/download ? (since you talked about "rollback", so not a new client)
you can easily port your interface/WTF folder to that one after you succesfully test it

Thats wont stop the fact it's a driver issue.

@OP there is the (http://www.nvidia.com/download/drive...px/89881/en-us) Nvidia 341.81driver you can install, you might need to uninstal your current 359.06 version before doing so.

Also make sure you're running the most upto date Intel Graphics drivers too since your laptop also relies on this for non dedicated graphic (most standard desktop applications)

Maybe but the fact that it is happening only for his WoW game is weird since he didnt change anything recently to justify it

And my AMD drivers only stop working with WoW.. never in league, CS or dishonored.
    Still a driver error.

  9. Try this, it might help you.
    1. Open Regedit
    2. Go to Hkey local machine > System > Current Control set > Control > Graphic Drivers
    3. Make a new DWORD 32-bit and name it TdrDelay and set the value to 8.

  10. Unrelated note: Been away for past 2-3 weeks, that's why no reply.

That driver doesn't support GT 630M so it might not work? And I'm certain my intel graphics drivers are up to date. For display anyway (16-Nov-15, v10.18.13.5900, driver model WDDM 1.3)

This didn't fix my issue unfortunately. And that worries me because that seemed to be a fix for a lot of people. Thanks though but I'm still having this problem.
There must be a way, I don't understand how this can all of the sudden happen with just WoW while nothing abnormal has happened to the computer. What would cause that to happen and why now?
