Generic Rant after the Gifts distribution, now with extra Nonsense
Changing the title to : "Generic Rant after the Gifts distribution, now with extra Nonsense."
Hello,
this post is directly toward staffs of the Warmane, but also would like to share it with the public.
I do understand the struggle of many players who played ever since the launch of Molten and so on, however, it is not of a correct courtesy to scream and shout at staffs, who are in different point of view than ours. They believe that they were generous in giving gifts that are humble in size, but still it is something. However, considering that all the Forum Mod and even Edifice is up here in the forum rather than checking tickets, it is certain that they expected much consequences (rages) from players on the forum.
Although it is wrong to shout at the staffs, staffs are definitely in wrong, in my point of view, as a player. When Warmane first launched after Molten incident, they strongly said that "we will rise up in trust"; so we gave ours to you, and kept on playing in the server. once and again. I, myself, who wasn't a huge donor had a character with full best-in-slot gears for 2 specializations (including shadowmourne) and PvP sets, except for the Wrathful shoulder. I lost my character and had some few coins left with me, which was about 50~60 that I donated for the shadowmourne. I had to do a complete new fresh start, unlike others. I was expecting much more than 3 coins for a Christmas gift for choosing Warmane over Blizzard when Molten was gone. I am not angry, but rather, disappointed.
Warmane's staff keeps on talking about their "generosity", but I do not quite understand what they mean by generosity in general. The coins that they have gifted us are so minuscule unless one have donated over hundreds of dollars, that we can't really do anything with it. Where are we gonna use it, to buy some random Tabards that we should be able to obtain them in game but we can't because the looting chest is not scripted?
This same exact thing happened last year too, before the server totally wiped out characters. One of the Molten's staffs had confessed that they were suffering from financial exhaust and that might have effected the Christmas gifts that we had received. I am afraid it is the similar case we are seeing here today.
This is my suggestion, which I have made to Blizzard the same, too. When users hate Blizzard, it's mostly because they release a mount on Blizzard shop. It is purely for monetary purposes, because now they let users to buy game time with in-game gold. Players totally hate this, because they don't want something that they cannot obtain unless paid. Players always suggest to Blizzard, if you, Blizzard, need money, make WoW a better game again, so subscribers always re-sub 100%. I am asking Warmane the same exact thing.
If you are under financial exhaust, please, make our realms more than merely just "playable". Script the events, dungeons, raids, loot-table, QUESTS. Make them work, please! We don't want things in stores that cannot be obtained in game and it's not even like a mount that it is not unobtainable, Shadowmounre, Valanyr, items that directly effect the game play in a HUGE scale are unobtainable in game, purely because the quests are blocked. Script them and make them work. Don't you think more players will be attracted by the old Wotlk realm that is fully scripted and working and at the same time people without much time can donate and experience the same thing? Don't tell me that you guys will implement the stuffs that are fully done on Lordaeron to Deathwing&Ragnaros after 1 year or even 2. We want them, we want those scripts.
Why? Not because our expectation is high as you say, but we chose you with trust, and we want to be treated with trust from you guys too with working in-game scripts.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Silentwinter.

Reason: Suggestion accepted.
By generosity, we refer to the gifts that were given that we didn't have to give. In fact, a number of staff members didn't want gifts to be given out, because we knew that no matter how we handled it, there would always be some sort of rage about. "I didn't get enough!" "This guy got more than I did!" etc. Kaer decided he wanted gifts to be given out to the community, no matter how small.
What would you have us say in response to people raging at us like they deserve something for playing on a free server that the people here work hard on to provide for them? "I'm sorry we should've given you more." ? That doesn't compute, and I am not going to apologize, nor should any of the staff have to, because we gave people stuff.
You expected more? Do you rage at your parents because they buy you a windows phone instead of an iphone? (Because it's cheaper?) Do you realize just how people come across to us when they rage like this? To put it bluntly, like selfish entitled children who have yet to understand what it means to work hard for what you have.
I expect people to take that as a sort of insult. But think about it. If you feel insulted by that, reflect upon yourself and realize that you are putting yourself in that position.
I fail to understand what the content of the servers we host has anything to do with the gifts we gave out. People wanted gifts. We didn't want to give them. Our administration decided they would give them, and so they did. Blizzard does not give out gear or items or any sort of virtual currency that would normally only cost real money out to their players. So why should we? But we did anyway. The thanks we get for it is people *****ing that it's not enough. Seriously? Again, if you expect us to react like we owe these people something, or that we should apologize and give them more as appreciation for their *****ing, then I don't think you understand how other human beings work.
Regardless of any gifts, we will continue to work on the server as we always have and intend to do; development will go forward. No matter what any hater or basher will say.
so your reason to not give generous gifts this year was that a small minority would have complained about it? oh well, good solution to that. Kaer probably wanted the gifts to be as generous as always this year, yet you and your team has some hidden agenda towards the people of warmane it seems. This was a molten tradition for several years, if you don't understand why people are unhappy, I really don't understand you.
Indeed, you don't understand me. What Kaer says, goes. We don't block him or keep him from doing things. We work for the server and for him. If he wants to do something a certain way, then we will back him up 100%. And I will, here. It is unfair and unjust for people to act like this towards the staff because he wanted to be nice. You're crazy if you honestly think I have something against the community. Do I have a problem with people who hate and bash on the server and staff? You're damn right I do, because above all else, I care about the server. It is Kaer's baby, and so it is mine too. I love the community and I do everything I can to help. People can hate and bash on me all they want, but that will never change who I am or what I do.
To put it bluntly, like selfish entitled children who have yet to understand what it means to work hard for what you have.
I expect people to take that as a sort of insult. But think about it. If you feel insulted by that, reflect upon yourself and realize that you are putting yourself in that position.
Certain members of the community acting out of accordance isn't grounds for launching fallacious, straw man attacks designed to provoke all members in the community with a certain point of view.
I believe it's possible to have a rational discussion about this schism within the community without senseless ad-hominem. Ie, 'You have a differing perspective, which makes you x and y.'
I don't mean to offend at all, I'm merely interested: Is the complete causation for the shift in treatment of these gifts based off of:
I still would have been happy with a vote shop or maybe some bug fixes for poor dying Cata. I love playing on there and have a great guild yet I'm pretty much forced to play Wrath because almost everything is broken on Cata. That would have been a great Christmas present, in my opinion...far better than coins, or vote points. Maybe even throw a couple cute mounts in the vote shop for a couple months, give enough time for people to save up and get them if they wanted to. Something that actually makes players happy and improves the server.

Saying that the ragers are a small minority is tremendous understatement. (Not to mention it takes one spoiled apple to rot the entire barrel)
Also a few things ...
1. Kear is the head administrator and the project leader ... He can be generous if he wanted to. But I remeber a few year back before he quit he expressed by he was hurt by the childishness of the people, and declared that that year would be last year of giving gifts (But changed his mind later). People seem to forget that conveniently.
2. The Few years I have been on Molten/Warmane I saw the people absolutely **** on the Spirit of Christmas and the concept of gifting each time ... and the staff got hesitant in being 'generous'. Try to learn a lesson from that (That is being: You dont defaecate on the plate you eat).
