Hello, i am new on this server and i want to know what is the "best" server to play ?
Lordaeron is the best, quality wise as warmane as directed efforts into making as many fixes as possible, when they feel like it is worthy they will then apply that to the other wotlk servers.
Its not like the rest of the servers are "bad", not at all, but lordaeron is far far more advanced in terms of quests working, some mechanics, etc.
Biggest problem is the lordaeron queue, if you can deal with that you'll find the most enjoyable exprience there. However there is NO RDF, so if you like that feature so much that its a deciding factor for you, may need to reconsider. But, personally, as a fan of the RDF, I don't really miss it at all and I agree that it makes the world feel A LOT more alive thanks to the lack of it.
But it has to be considered that both Deathwing and Ragnaros cores will be updated to Lordaeron one in the upcoming months, so I would rather look into things like RDF, queues or rates.
It's 3.3.5a :)
By the way, what should I choose, what race and class, I will be playing on Lordaeron too. I would like to pick druid resto, or probably a warrior for PvP.
What about PvE here?
If you pick druid save 1000 gold, most likely you'll need to get 2x gathering proffessions, materials sell quite well, im lvl 16 with around 60g just questing and farming as I go.
The reason for 1000 gold is for dual spec, you'll want that asap, as the best leveling spec is by far feral, but that won't get you any spot in dungeons as you lack aoe till you're 72 (swipe for cat), so you need 2nd spec to be resto, meaning you also need to carry gear for that :/ . At end game however, you will be wanted regardless of spec, they all bring something and since raids are MUCH more difficult druid innervate is wanted more than ever.
For warrior its a lot easier, LEVEL UP AS PROT!!, you get insane damage with revenge, good survivability and you're a tank! you can easily do dungeons without needed dual spec.
Only small downside to this is that you need some macro to "stance dance" if you get into pvp situations as pure defensive won't cut it vs decent players, but thats really a small downside.
End game warriors, can't comment, never had one with only nax gear, but since you can't get arp cap till icc gear i'm gonna say it's not that great probably? Not bad for sure, but dunno. Tanking shouldn't be a problem at all, warriors never were bad tanks to begin with.
You guys forgot to mention the rates.
Lordaeron is hardcore 1x, Deathwing and Ragnaros is currently at 7x.
Me and friends started on Loraderon, but we switched to Deathwing for the following reasons:
1. No queue
Waiting 1-2 hours in queue every day is a joke, getting disconnected and end up in queue is a joke. This basically means you can't play when you want and if you (or maybe the main tank) get disconnected during a dungeon or raid, oh well, tough luck.
2. Rates
For people like me who have played retail for years (read leveled tons of chars) and like to have more than 1 char, leveling at 1x is torture, especially on a private server, especially on a private server I can't log in to. At first I was critical to the 7x rates on Deathwing but now I love it, leveling still takes time and effort, but a lot less. For example, each level 71-80 takes 30-60 minutes of focused questing.
3. Random Dungeon Finder (RDF)
With no RDF and 10,000 people online, spamming the global chat, each player trying to be LOUDER than the previous players, it's not easy reading a flashing wall of text and finding whatever it is you're looking for, or offering. Also, once you find a party, you have to fight who goes there to summon, it's a waste of time and removes an important part of the WotLK experience. This is a major fail in my book.
4. Marketplace
Loraderon doesn't offer heirlooms, it doesn't offer name change, faction change, and so on.... and for the stuff it does offer, prices are much higher compared to other realms.
5. Lag
Loraderon with 10,000 players online lags, feel free to browse the forums for tons of lag related topics. I believe this mainly affects PvP players who tend to be more sensitive to delays.
6. Random disconnects
There are at least a few random disconnects most days, if not every day.
7. Quest objectives
Since the server xp rate is 1x, you don't have the luxury to skip many quests. At times you will find yourself waiting and fighting other players for quest objectives on 5-10 min respawn time.
BUT, Loraderon is not all bad even though it could have been a lot better.
One of the good things about Loraderon is the core - I'm gonna be honest, Deathwing is bugged as hell - but they have plans to patch Deathwing with the new core. Another good thing Loraderon has is that it's pretty new and people don't expect you to have 99999 GS.
For me, the perfect private server would be a new progressive realm with the latest core, RDF, heirlooms, 3x rates and ofc no queue. I would even pay monthly fee to play on such server.

Lordaeron will bore and rage the hell out of you with lag, slow levelling (slower than 1x even due to rdf missing and lower exp in dungeons) and queues being a prior thing.
So yea Deathwing ^_^ and if Deathwing and Ragnaros are merged, its superb fun
To WarmanePrez, I honestly never thought of it like this at all. These are all very good points, but given the fact that I started in Cataclysm, it's hard for me to disagree with your 7 points, so my agreement is pretty biased.
It is true what he said, but some people like the fact thats its hard and progressive, while others just want to hop in on and enjoy everything, nothing wrong with either, just caters to 2 different types of experiences that players seek.
