Judging by avatar you're a alliance, so what is the problem lol. My horde character seriously has like 17-44 in AV stats no joke so stop crying
Regards.
All your Links are just sayin that "Alliance searching specialy for AV only" , but when i que random bg with 5 People and we get into an AV with max 9 Alliance something is wrong. AV should pop atleast with 20 Alliance and 20 Horde qued.
Funny. I don't know what links you've read, but in the four I linked it has a thread creator complaining about going for a random Battleground and getting Alterac Valley most of the time and that's it, including one complaining he thought that had been "fixed."
It's how it worked on Blizzard. Has been addressed so many times I'm surprised Google doesn't shows results from our Forums about something complaining about it and being told it's just how it works - that specific Battleground has a much higher percentage of being the one randomly picked, and that's the way it's supposed to work.
In MoP and WoD you can exclude up to 2 battlegrounds when queuing for random battleground (not sure about Cata). All 4 links say that those who don't exclude AV and IOC always get those battlegrounds because those who exclude them aren't joining them. There is no such system in wotlk so that's not the problem this thread is about.
The point of my linking isn't why it's happening and how people suggest to fix it, but the fact that this happened on retail too. Alterac Valley has a much higher chance of being picked randomly, and it has been stated by QAs and other Staff before. Something having 70% chance of being picked still makes it random, just with a much higher chance of one of them being picked.
Seriously, you people play a game based on random things everywhere, where one or two have a ridiculously higher chance to happen than others. What makes it so hard to grasp that it was applied on retail for Battlegrounds too.
I didn't say that something is wrong with it. Just that what you linked is from different expansions and happens for different reason. A possible explanation could be that AV simply requires more people to fill it so more people end up in it if chance for each battleground to start is the same.
Actually the only difference would be that in those expansions people have a way to sort of avoid the higher chance by blacklisting Alterac Valley, which apparently many people don't, yet complain. The essence - Alterac Valley having a higher chance to be picked even in retail - still remains. 6, 7, 8, even 9 chances out of 10 is still random.
Comparing our situation to retail isn't correct. BG system worked completely different there than our works here now. I mentioned it before, but RBG queue doesn't take into account people queued into specific battlegrounds (like wsg, ab) and put them all into same BG. If you queue into one specific BG you will never play it with people from RBG. People can sit in WSG queue for 3 hours, while other players queued into RBG could play 3-4 WSG during these 3 hours.
In my Battlegroup alliance used to queue specifically into AV cause they almost always won, so it was a very fast honor farm, that's why people in RBG used to get it more ofthen than they normally would. This situation doesn't happen here due to the way BG system is scripted. I also believe that there's simply a higher % chance to start AV, since you can throw 80 people into it, which would reduce the number of instances (bgs) and thus reduce "lag" on server.
You're just trying to jumble two different things together for validation now.
I don't know if our Battleground system puts together people from picked and random queues, but that's not relevant to the prevalence of one specific Battleground happening here. The talk is about the Random Battlegrounds and one of them showing up much more, which is something that also happened in retail because it was set to have a higher chance of being chosen randomly. Even if the queues were shuffled together (assuming they don't, and that there isn't simply a preference given based on the choice or picked vs. random, as in randoms being preferably put together with other randoms before "pickeds") the prevalence of Alterac Valley shouldn't change for the randoms - I believe the system worked in an "Battleground is randomly chosen -> players are assigned to it" order, not a "there's this picked Battleground lacking players, let's dump randoms there to fill it up, then we get a random one for the leftovers" one.
Whats the point of arguing endlessly when nothing will change no matter who comes on top, you should just ask the simple question "can you do something to make that BG a little less frequently choosen" instead of trying to prove that blizzard have it different or that warmane did it wrong

It's important, though. If we did it wrong, it requires fixing. If we didn't, it's just players wanting customization.
Can it be tweaked? I can't speak for a QA, but I doubt it's impossible. Will it be? I doubt it, since as far as I know (and has been confirmed in the past by Staff) it's working as intended, the issue simply being that players don't like how it was intended on retail.
making pool about this won't hurt anyone. asking community which is obviously not happy with it won't make things gamebreaking. Already alot things are not blizzlike here (which is good) so I don't see reason to make some tweeks if people want it. It's not same thing as rdf and pve in general,tho...
The thing that I am wondering is -
Is AV scripted properly?
1. Saving Wing Commanders?
2. Spawning Super Minions?
3. Collecting supplies?
If all these questions are answered as "yes", then having AV chance on 70% is amazing - unless you have a **** PC and I feel you for that cuz I've been there.
And another thing, are Strand of the Ancient and Isle of Conquest (Isle of Iwannacry) even released on Lordaeron - and scripted properly?
