1. Getting started

So this is my first character on this realm. I was wondering is there any way I can get some scaling gear or in general an advice about getting started since I am still using white items from level 1 and I am currently in Redridge. Mobs are getting very very tough and I don't get any gear from quests. An ocassional green stamina item but that's it. Any advices on what can a new player do?

  2. Well, the best thing to do is go in front of Auction House, beg people for some money, than gather more than expected and buy the fastest flying.

On the serious note, you should go and buy some items with your money from a vendor which you can find in either Goldshire in Elwynn Forest or in Stormwind. Spending the money will help you out in faster leveling which results with better gear in no time. You can also join a guild and ask somebody for help if they are willing to. Make friends with people you meet on your level, most of the time that is a low level alternative character to a level 90 main.

  3. Learning to use Wowhead is probably the most useful advice you can get. Use it to search for vendors in whatever zones you're questing. I only buy gear from vendors after 80 as it's quite easy to quest until then. From 80 onwards, I use Hyjal vendor and sometimes from AH (if I can spare the gold). In Pandaria zones, buy from vendor in Jade Forest before you start questing there, and then later from Longying Outpost in Townlong Steppes when you're eligible level-wise for it.

If you're going for PvP mainly at level 90, take note of how much your toon's Contender set would cost. I usually learn only the basic flying and flying in northrend and not others (not even Pandaria flying ) to save up to buy contender set.

Questing is the fastest way to level (especially arena quests in Nagrand,Zul'drak and Twilight Highlands on corresponding levels). Move to a higher zone as soon as you're eligible for it; don't linger :)

  4. Try to join a guild and equip a guild tabard asap. Once you reach exalted with guild, buy the guild lvling gear(2 items) that scale with lvl and give exp boost. That will help a bunch
