1. Are Warriors fun?

Hey, I've played every single class in the game, except a warrior. Now, I could never really get into warriors because I felt they were too mundane, so I basically never hit 80 with one lol. I wanted to ask everyone on their personal opinions on warriors and if the class is really fun once you hit 80 and get pretty geared? From what I've seen they top charts pretty well and their duel wielding 2 handed weapons seems pretty damn awesome lol :) So how are they in pvp and pve? Should I give them another go

  2. Theyre pretty fun, but need a lot of macros, theyre godly in pvp
Which classes did you like the most from ones you played and why?

  3. If nothing else, Charge is hella fun.

  4. dont spec into prot pvp, broken af on this new core

  5. The only reason I don't like Warriors in wrath is cause of how Heroic Strike works waiting on the next auto attack to do anything.

  6. dont spec into prot pvp, broken af on this new core
    Fixed you mean.

  7. I think that fury warrior is the most boring **** to ever exist (probably gets more fun later on as you get better gear)

I remember leveling war to 80, playing for couple of days and just quit because of how boring it was

    PvP arms is super fun

Speaking from experience, fury never becomes fun.

  9. Well, Fury is just basically keeping Bloodthirst and Whirlwind on cooldown while using Slam procs and dumping any leftover rage into Heroic Strike. It depends on how you look at the class, really. Demonology warlocks are - put a curse, keep Immolate and Corruption on the target, spam Shadowbolt, cast 3x Incinerates when Molten Core procs, use Soulfire instead of Shadowbolt and Incinerate below 35%. Arcane mages are 3-4x Arcane Blast > 1x Arcane Missiles, repeat. Assassination rogues are 2x Muti + Envenom, and keep Hunger for Blood up. Combat rogues are keep Slice and Dice up, fill with Eviscerate in the meantime, use cooldowns whenever possible. FDK is keep diseases up, fill with Obliterate, dump RP into Frost Strike, use Howling Blast whenever Rime procs. I can continue like that for all classes and specs, but you get the idea - nothing is really hard or challenging or interesting when it comes to gameplay itself. In most cases it's no more than 4-5 buttons.

I mean, I don't know... Everything is boring, honestly. The only two challenging PvE specs on WotLK are enhancement shaman and feral druid, but enhancement is low-end DPS and as a druid being MDPS is literally the worst of the 4 options - anyone would prefer a boomkin, a tree, or a bear to a cat.

    Well said.
I would actually suggest a class with the easiest mechanics/rotation/priority list. You may say it will be super boring compared to some other specs, but later you may find that actual fun is when you have a perfect vision of everything thats happening in encounter and perhaps someday you will be good raid leader. It is very hard to observe every situation with some specs which require more focus on your basic rotation/priority list, especially for melee classes, in general ranged classes have more room to observer whole encounter. For me fun in raids is to never get stuck by encounter mechanics which harms yourself or whole raid and at the same time execute perfect performance from yourself.
From my experience I have seen that the most god tier raid leaders are tanks or range classes. Tanks probably because they should know very good raid mechanics especially things that can 1 shot you, and tank doesnt have hard basic rotation/priority lists, but should know when to pop CDs. Range classes usually have favorable raid mechanics and can have more field of vision, I think range DPS is very good type of specs to make it easier for being good leader. Healers not so much, because a lot of time you will watch your raid frame with at least one eye.

  11. Continuing my thought about "it depends how you look at the class", adding to what Feralbeard said, for example Assassination rogues have a very very easy PvE rotation of 2x Mutilate > 1x Envenom, keep HfB up. But if you start looking at the spec in depth, if you start thinking about Overkill refreshes with Vanish, haste potions, 1 CP Ruptures for HfB refreshes, Envenom uptime, haste vs AP gearing and so on, you suddenly realise that there is a lot more to the spec than that. At first glance every spec is easy to learn, again - with no more than 4-5 buttons, but when you get deeper into each spec and approach its mastery - that's when you find out if a class is really fun for you.

Even the 2-button Arcane mages have a twist on them - how many Arcane Blasts should you use in order not to drain your mana, should you use your haste potion now or rather wait after Bloodlust because you'll get GCD capped. The simple 2-button spec is actually a game of mana management and being able to change between 2, 3 and 4 Arcane Blasts within the fight is the sign of mastery of the spec.

As for enhancement shamans, many people simply disregard them as not viable on WotLK, which just shows that they don't know how to play the spec. Enhancement is, unlike the other specs in the game, hard to learn. You have to watch everything - all cooldowns, Maelstorm charges, Lightning Shield charges, totem timers - everything. So a lot of casual players who do not want to learn the game underperform with enhancement and then blame the spec.

So, again, it all depends on how you look at the spec. Learning any of the specs in the game and pulling mediocre DPS, except Enhancement and Feral, is easy. Mastering them and pulling optimal DPS... that's another story.

You asked specifically for Fury warriors - their normal rotation is just Bloodthirst + Whirlwind on cooldown, using Slam whenever it procs, and dumping excess rage into Heroic Strike. If you do that, you will have mediocre DPS and people will be OK with that... but it will not be the maximum. You have to ask yourself - is this really the best time to use Slam; should I delay it for BT+WW or should I use it right now for fear of losing the proc; if I use Heroic Strike right now, will I have enough rage for my next BT+WW; is there anyone in the raid who provides Sunder Armor/ Expose Armor; if I use Execute now, will I have enough rage for my next BT+WW; at this gear level should I use Execute at all, or switch to Slam instead? These are all things which a "simple-minded, primitive barbarian" has to think about while DPSing.

As for PvP, it's a whole other story - Warriors are a fun class, which smashes heads and breaks kneecaps... as long as they're not getting kited around like they're inside the circle of a "catch the ball" game and everyone's playing around with them.

I agree, but at the same time even those get boring once you understand the different play style required. I think choosing a class is more about which one feels right because, like you said, most of them are 3-4 buttons and that gets old quick. However, an easier class does give you more time to focus on your environment and that's a massive bonus for all perspectives.

  13. As people mentioned above, Arms PvP is alot of fun. Fury PvE not so fun, only fun side of PvE would be if your BiS and end up as 1st on recount every time, but the rotation itself is kinda boring.

Like him, I think the fun part is watching my dps go high as fury
Arms is fun and extremely good for pvp (tons of macros though), and I like prot for bgs, just to be annoying.

How can other people tell YOU, what is "fun" for YOU? It's all personal, subjective opinions.
