IF anyone could offer advice it would help I would love to solo it to get a certain powerful set of pve armor which would be great for raids.

Ok, I'll just play the fool, no you can't solo Dragon Soul in Cataclysm when it is current. I doubt you can solo Dragon Soul in MoP. In WoD you can.

before fire mages got fixed you *could* have soloed the first 6 bosses by just stacking ignite into the millions... now it's impossible to my knowledge
