1. What is so special about shadowmourne?

Hello there, i've been wondering lately whats so superior about shadowmourne compared to other weapons, like glorenzelg or oathbinder for warriors for example. I mean, i see it has bigger base dmg and a bit higher stats, but, does it's passive of fragments really do that much or is there anything else that i'm missing and didn't see yet?
Any answer with an explanation would be appreciated.
    Booty Spanker.

  2. I've never wielded the runeblade but the fact that it's a Legendary weapon kind of speaks for itself. Just pop that or Thunderfury in the global channel. Everyone goes insane, most of the time.

Besides, the questline to forge the weapon sounds so epic. After all, it's supoosed to be the (replica?) sister blade of Frostmourne

  3. Shadowmourne only gives you an edge if all your other equipment is best in slot. And yes the 300 STR passive is quite good .

  4. The average strength from the proc effect can be compared with a additonal blessing of might buff while the soul explosion (or how it is called) is like a extra pyro rocket.

If a BiS geared warr attacks u with oathbinder instead of Smourne ull hardly feel the difference in terms of dmg.

  5. Well the way I see it, current WOTLK dps in PVE and PVP is pretty much proc based. I've even noticed with my own damage. Sometimes I peak 30k dps on deathbringer other times with same raid comp I peak at 24k. It all depends on proc stacking. The more procs you have the higher chance you have of them stacking and you one shotting somebody. Shadowmourne proc might look meaningless but it adds another layer of damage to already powerful settup. But I do agree that Shadowmourne has a false reputation of being over-powered.

Shadowmourne is not overpowered. Smart players who know how to balance damage, critical strikes and survivability are overpowered.

  6. In terms of PvP Shadowmourne is basically an extra trinket's worth of damage. It is significant. Trying to say otherwise is kind of dumb.

Sure a clothy might feel like they are getting hit as hard by an Oathbinder warrior but they are not. Where the real imbalance occurs is in tight matches between Warriors in 2s, the sustained DPS advantage of the Shadowmourne wielder is considerable.

  7. In PvE Smourne gives a clear edge over whatever else you can acquire. The str proc, the dmg proc - they're just too good. And then you have 3 goddamn red sockets and a ****ton of crit and ArPen. Any fury warr would be drooling over this weapon. It just has zero drawbacks.

In PvP... eeeeeh, if I had to choose between getting the Oathbinder or donating for Smourne as an Awarr, I'd go for Oathbinder. Much more cost-effective and will have very similar results to Smourne. Also, Smourne's proc can break soft CC, which kind of forces you to macro-cancel the stacks, which leads to the question "why use it at all then?".

And Gloren is trash for PvP. Screw expertise. Warrs barely need it and it is an irrelevant stat to half the pala and DK spells.

  8. it's a "cherry on top" item, if you're already good then it's gonna be pretty handy

also the proc effects are aesthetically pleasing
