long answer: the warmane staff has expressed their opinion on this many times. they want to progress forward, not go back. this thread will be locked and deleted soon. its against the rules to suggest another realm regarding those xpacs in particular.

I will leave this thread open because it's in General Discussion, and I think it's cool to let people discuss it.
Actual staff response: A lot of us love TBC, we really do. But we don't think opening such a server would be in our best interest right now. Our developer team is of a decent size already, but it's still rather difficult to keep up pace with development on 3 expansions (WotLK, Cata, MoP). So much so that players on both Cata & MoP can feel the slowness of the development pace. Adding another expansion would slow down development even more. We don't want to do that, and we feel that would only make the players of the existing expansions less happy.

I am so sure that TBC server would be capped 24/7. Doesnt have to be a 10k pop cap server, 5-6k is enough. I am also sure lots of people will donate on it.

If you can provide genuine data instead of ''a random nobody is sure'' as rude as it might sound,to prove that it would be worth their while,i am sure they'd consider it.
For warmane this is first and most of all busyness,while an unfilled market niche might sound lucrative,there is no proof other than a topic or two once every half a year or so that there might be a profit to turn over. It's basically the same as with those who ''want vanilla'' My guess is that if they'd open a tbc server it would climb sky high for first few days,and then idle at around 500 simply because it was an expansion designed as a testing ground for future content additions by Blizzard,while the raids were decent,as far as character customization and the bulk amount of content goes,it was a short road. No achievements,no transmogging no pet battles or anything of that sort. After the raids,and the few arenas there would be nothing to do.
Don't confuse nostalgia with a worthwhile timesink.

Who cares about pet battles? I have only ever done pet battles so I could sell the pets for gold, pfff. Gear customization has always been possible - you would know that if you played on any fun server. It's just that as long as a server wants to be Blizzlike, it won't implement it before Cata. I'm still waiting to see what they'll do about that for WotLK.
I think that with Nostalrius's shutdown it is only natural that people would start asking for Warmane to try and make one such realm. We are the biggest private server out there, after all...

Im curious if its still worth to host a cata and mop realm.
It seems like the community trend is to go backward. A TBC and Vanilla realm might be more popular than our Cata and MoP realm.

Doesn't seem like a good idea to me when the scripting relevant to the multiple instances that go through WOTLK to MoP are still not properly done. When this job is still not secured there's no point in opening a new expansion.
Also, stating that the community trend is to go backward is... "Kinda" right. But then again - The Cataclysm and MoP servers still have a significant part of this community in it and it would be devastating to just shut those realms down because a group of people wants a TBC or a Vanilla realm.

Well, do as they wish then. Personally, I only find early Cata to be any good, so I won't go back to Cata even they script it better than retail. And MoP... well, haha :D ok, whatever

They dont and thats the problem. Only like 20% of the player base is still playing on mop/cata while 80% play wotlk.
The population on cata and mop is dropping with every day.
The question is if cata/mop will become popular again when they have the development focus and wotlk development is mostly done.
If they will remain unpopular it might be better to release a tbc or vanilla realm at that point.

I would love a tbc server,i mean... tbc>wotlk and this server will get more popularity! Imagine thousands of thousands coming to play for nostalgia the best expansion blizzard has ever made TBC!! <3
