Please someone enlighten me.I'm playing a prot warrior, was vsing a frost mage twice, lost both times. He was even a lvl 79 mage *facepalm*.I charge him,he blinks.I intercept him,he freezes me.His pet slows,he slows.I use spell reflect whenever its off CD.I use bersekers rage, everything, but he just keeps peeling off me and I cant catch up to him.Its like he got 2 ****ing spells, blink frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt blink frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt blink,etc....in the meantime,i have like 30 spells i have to use just to counter him.Where is the fcking logic ?
In fact frost mages are one of the hardest classes to play in terms of PvP imo.
On topic: If you're a prot warrior you should try to shield bash him whenever you stun him so he can't blink out of it. For example you can charge him and do conc blow+shield bash. Try to do as much damage as possible in the few opportunities you manage to get in melee range (for example you can reck right before charging and you can use shield block right before you use shield slam). Also time your shield wall according to his icy veins, trinket procs, etc. (you wouldn't want to wall if he uses those cds and you have both charge and intercept available+heroic throw and you're not frozen). If you're frozen make sure you're in def stance and you're hitting him with your bow/thrown wep. I can't really think of anything else. With the correct gear you should be able to two shot any mage unless they're high above average skill lvl.
You can't. Unless he's dumb or undergeared, you can't win vs a Frost Mage as a Warrior. It's just how the game is and has always been.
In all seriousness, don't expect anyone to give you a different answer because you'll be disappointed. You're searching for logic in a 1v1 scenario - the game was never made around 1v1, you can't beat every class with any class (OK, maybe as a SP you can because Blizzard balance). Moreover, you're asking for 1v1 advice with the worst 1v1 class in the entire game - Warrior.
If you manage to beat a Frost Mage as whatever-specced Warrior, then he was either dumb or undergeared - that's all, really.
Anyone else ? Preferably with IQ higher than 20.Thanks.
Only one here with IQ 20 here are you guy. You can't beat frost mage as warrior, well maybe if he goes afk or spills some coffee on keyboard from laughing.
If you cant come to such conclusion yourself, problem is in you.
It is only possible as arms if you have enough resi and stamina. You will only have small windows to apply damage the rest of the time you must spend mitigating it. However this becomes much easier when you have 30-40k hp. I used to have a set like this specifically for dueling mages.
For a start, against a frost mage, Blood Craze talent will be procced CONSTANTLY since they crit so much. With 35k hp that is a 2.1k hp heal that constantly refreshes. Every time they stun or root you they are proccing Second Wind giving you back 10% hp which is 3.5k.
Never charge unless you also have intercept ready and you must always be closing in on their position no matter how far. The real problems begin when the mage can start kiting you from beyond your charge range.
A mage will often blink your charge, trinket your intercept and then frost nova. Usually this is a good time to bladestorm and force an early Ice Block.
"In fact frost mages are one of the hardest classes to play in terms of PvP imo."
This made me laugh. Mage is the simplest class in PvP - except maybe Ret Paladin.
Nah, man - Rets have to manage Hands, Cleanse and time wings. They also switch seals and auras depending on the fight. They're a lot more complicated than Mages :D
Isn't it kind of ironic though? A "mage" in the sense of the word is supposed to a very elaborate character, using magic and arcane tactics that are very hard to grasp and understand...
...and in reality it's just Frostlol, Ice Lance, Deep Freeze, Blink, Frost Nova, Counterspell, Polymorph, and Ice Block. I mean, seriously, most mages don't use any other spells besides these (not counting no-brainer cooldowns such as Evocation, Icy Veins, Cold Snap, and Water Elemental, I guess) and they don't need to either. Because they're mages.
Frost mage isnt that easy.
U can not run brainless around and play super offensive like a ret or a arms warr.
Fmage deals pretty low dmg and wins fights by controlling the enemy.
In arena that means that u always need to sheep one opponent while the other one need to be frozen/slowed.
If u lose the controle over ur enemys u can die super fast.
