    starting issue - Archive problem

Data/enGB/wow-update-enGB-18273.MPQ: World of Warcraft can’t make a required change to an archive file. Be sure you have write permission for the World of Warcraft folder or try running the game in administrator mode.

I am my computers admin. I have given the exe admin and compatibility rights. I am running windows 8.1 x64bit. I have an ROG gamer laptop and is more than efficient the what is needed to play the game.

The error provides this as an Administration problem. I am the admin for my laptop. And I've even turned off UAC to see it it would run then, but no luck.

    Ideas?

I get the same exact issue, Win 7, its funny cause the old 5.4.2 client we used to use worked fine, but it sems the new 5.4.8 client doesn't work. To top it off it takes minutes for it to even show that message to me.

yea, it takes my computer a while to be able to display that error too. It provides a link to a forum, that only explains admin and compatibility issues. I run different compat os versions and run with admin and I still get the error.

I've been youtubing and googling for hours to find a fix.

So far, no cigar. If anyone has an idea on what to do, give us a shout.

I fixed it. Alinissa, were the folder is that contains the torrent you downloaded the game. Right click, go to properties. A dialog box should show up. Then you will see at the bottom, two boxes. One says "Read-Only" and it has a mark in that box. Uncheck that box, and the game works fine for me now!

    I hope that helps.
