Warmane is growing fast, but there is something i need to know

Let's start with a blabla about myself.
So I play on Molten since.. well since there was 3 realms for cataclysm, no MOP realm and players playing on cataclysm. I witnessed the hijack and lost some 6K gs on WOTLK and some Destroyer's End on Cataclysm. But I enjoyed fresh start.

So now i want to get involved in the Lordaeron x1 realm, but before I start spending titanistic hours I have a question : What guarantees me that Warmane isn't in the grasp of Blizzard ? I mean, 12K players on 1 of the many realms is more than they have in any of their server and yet I am really afraid to face an other wipe because Blizzard want to close the server.

U have to realize, Warmane is not nostalrius, nost stated that if they are asked to take the servers down, they will, so they did. Warmane is a business (to an extent) that means they will not be stupid to give away the staff's personal information, they will not put the servers/move to a country that is in blizzard's reach. On top of that, C&D letters go out pretty much monthly to these servers, and thats that, there were no further actions taken yet, and in the recent drama, im pretty sure blizzard just wants to lay low for a while.

Also, i have 30ms from Hungary, so its likely that the servers are in eastern europe, its maybe not russia, but its a safe location for a server regardless.

Warmane is a business. Majority of the high-ranked staff run off Warmanes income.

Should Blizzard fight Warmane, all Warmane would do is ignore the threat and ultimately get sued for a lot of money, as all Warmane has done is ignored Blizzard threat.

Texiro, thats characters total on realm with level 100 and some other req, if you read the note.
@OP After Nostdown I watched some videos about copyright and Blizzard. From what I understood Nost took their realms down because they wanted to be able to play vanilla no matter if that were retail or private. By the actual thing Blizz cant really take them down, if owners know the law. And especially if its hosted in Russia or smthng.

Well I see you guys have a different opinion, a staff answer would be nice.

If you want to spend your time on a private server you risk losing everything obviously. So if you want to play you are going to play, if not well, you should go to retail. As im saying that im here from the start 2009, i would hate something to happen to Warmane, but that is the risk im willing to take to play here between expansions.

We've been around for a really long time, and with a relatively high population for the vast majority of it. Blizzard has tried before and failed. We're far too stubborn and resilient to be susceptible to such a thing.

"The company has seventeen datacenters[2] housing around 250,000 machines.[3] The company offers localized services in: France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Finland. It has also expanded its services to the United States and Canada."

Edit: This is for the guy who said OVH is only a french thing, ****ed up the comment sry im new to the forum.

Edit2: Also from the OVH wiki "In December 2010, Gizmodo revealed that WikiLeaks selected OVH as its new hosting provider following Amazon's refusal to host it.[12] On December 3, the growing controversy promted Eric Besson, France's Industry Minister, to inquire about legal ways to prohibit this hosting in France. The attempt failed. On December 6, 2010, a judge ruled that there was no need for OVH to cease hosting WikiLeaks.[13] The case was rejected on the grounds that such a case required an adversarial hearing"

The french government wanted them to not host Wikileaks, i dont think they give a **** about blizzard.

It's already been confirmed that Warmane servers are running off the Gravelines Datacenter.
If you had been on this forum long enough you would know this too, so there really is no need for your semi-obnoxious post.

how is it obnoxious to explain things? Blizzard pulled the classic scare tactic on Nost, and they fell for it, i dont think OVH gives a **** about blizz/hosting a private server if they dont care about WikiLeaks, or if u read a bit more in their wiki, a rebel group's website.

Warmane will be fine for a long time.

Also, since my ping is lime 30 from eastern europe, i dont think the servers are in france,

I get 30MS from the UK to both Warmane and my retail realm (Frankfurt) and League (germany too)... So France would appear to be correct.

Thats strange, if i have to connect a french server i usually sit around 70ms. Is the "ping counter" altered in any way?

  14. June 7, 2016
a little bit above 20 here... NL.
I do think it is hosted in france lol

I am living in the center of the France and my ping is 50.
