Simple, Icecrown caters casual players more. If you want to raid and be ninjad because you think that risk is "fun" then go to lordaeron besides 1 item per month ,assuming you vote religiously everyday, is a very slow pace of progression. I just made a rogue and made him 5.5K in 2 days playtime by using gold+making my own raids and I'm still months away from getting an item from voteshop (cuz I forget to vote and instead play more). But I would prefer mounts in vote shop + vanity items if they were to change the shop again.

I meant more about gearing alts. And yes, it's more about older players. It's not really about waiting. It's about playing and collecting points for a few months and then deciding to make a new char. In my case it's 1 char per 2 months on average with 2 accounts, I didn't mean 2 months from 0 points til getting items. BoE items have to be replaced with heroic items later when they drop. T10 items can simply be upgraded with marks that are easier to obtain (at least in a PvE guild). Normally getting a heroic T10 item would require farming emblems for weeks and getting normal and heroic marks. With points I instantly get T10 items and set bonuses and only need heroic marks to upgrade them. It affects set items most since normally they require emblem farming to obtain. Getting BoE or other normal items does not make it easier to get heroic items.

Agree completely. This is part of the reason why you have so many people walking around with 6200+ GS that didn't earn all of it. I worked to get that stuff. You just start to see a higher level of elitism when you make it that easy to get gear. It also feeds to people who don't know what they are doing in raids. IMO T10 and things like it should be off limits.

EDIT: Here lies the problem. Many people on Icecrown have been there before many alterations to the shop itself. The shop didn't used to spit out this quality of rewards. Additionally, people, like myself go to icecrown because of population. You can get gear any normal way, without points. The main complaint people had about wrath is that it was too easy to get gear. So they want to make it even easier? I think if you want to make a casual server, make a 10x server with higher drop rates, or instant 80s geared with T9 or something.
