Only 2400 at peak and 1300 at wee hours. But even at the lowest pop, there were still a lot of things to do.

For other private servers, a pop beyond 500 is already considered a success.

You have the usual chance I give people to explain your claim and back it with convincing, verifiable proof, before I send you off for basically saying we are liars. Failing to reply won't save you, by the way.

are 4 sources enough? a quick google search will net more

Same as above is valid for you. Videos pulled out of someone's ***, that have been debunked by players themselves, aren't going to fool me or save you.

those are accounts logged. not players online.

so blame molten or blame yourself, them for not saying accounts rather than players or you not knowing its accounts instead of players. and the numbers dont reflect real time either. so in a sense you are both wrong and both right.

Actually, "players online" is perfectly correct. I get what you mean, but what you want to say is "characters in-game" in that distinction. A logged account still means a player online, although it might not mean a character in-game. Even then, that might have applied when Lordaeron had a queue, which doesn't happens anymore, so the need to "save spots" doesn't exists - and even when they did (or still does in Icecrown), according to Proterean the number of accounts doing that is tiny, enough to not make it worth it working on kick timers. Considering how people say Lordaeron is "dying" or even already "dead" with peaks of 10k players, I'm inclined to believe him instead of the players who claim there are thousands doing it.

well since the screenshots and what not where of players in game in reference to players online. it is a fair assessment of the situation. given that there is no such distinction made on the home page. i wont get into a argument about how many people are actually online and how it may or may not be inflated bc it would prolly raise hell with "certain" people but the homepage does not accurately show numbers regardless for example what about just now when the server crashed? should that then not reflect those said numbers on the homepage? i know there is a delay in the reporting of these numbers as well. so its over the course of a period of time not an actual live number. either way delay or not if this was true why does it not show the realm with 0 players on during a crash then when all accounts are logged out automatically? even with a delay it should reflect those numbers later on as it starts to catch up.

You would need Edifice to answer that, but my guess from knowledge of programming is that it queries the server for a player amount, and when it receives no reply it simply keeps the last one, since not getting a reply could mean a number of things while the server is still up and reporting the server as being unavailable would be a bad solution.

Most players use this kind of an anti-AFK bot to avoid being kicked during the day.

It's like a crowded bus station. Sure, a lot of people are in there but they're all moving. Going into buses and going out. Very, very few stay there.

Imagine looking at the login screen and imagine it as a bus station. Sure, there's a lot of people there but most are moving, not staying at the bus station for longer than 5 minutes. There's a few unfortunate homeless people that are sleeping on the bench. It's not worth the time to call the police or bus station supervisors to get them away and it would be even rude to those folks.

Now if there were 400 unfortunate homeless people sleeping on the benches of the bus station, the authorities would have to react and would invest time and effort in getting those people re-located as they're messing with how the bus station works.

The metaphor might be vague but it should describe as how it really is. A server is a place where people constantly come and leave, it's never exactly the same, just like a river, it flows all the time but never remains the same. This is why features like skipping the queue are possible. Because of the ever-changing outlook of the population that comes and goes.

We hope that made it a bit clearer.

Any one who says that warmane fakes it's numbers is stupid or doesn't play here.

It might feel like there are not 10 000 ppl online when you are max level. But that's because there are probably not more than 2000 chilling around dalaran trying to raid or doing whatever level 80s do. The other 80% of the server witch is roughly 8000 players is currently leveling and therefore in places other than storm wind or dalaran.

If you go around and level you will see scores of people in almost every zone..I mean go around west fall or dusk wood or strangle thorn. It's hard to level there because the mobs are already killed by the other /who 50(max displayed) players leveling in the same zone as you

That sounds like truth, everytime i enter Dalaran my fps goes to **** numbers. T_T
