If you are tauren then it makes no difference, the only races that should consider go with bow or gun, are Trolls and Dwarfs because of their racial traits with these weapons

That, and also the BiS ranged weapon is a crossbow so your question is irrelevant. You will use a crossbow at the end of the game.

The only practical differences between a gun and a bow are the fact that they're separate weapon skills, and also use completely different ammunition. A gun and a bow with identical stats would both yield you the same DPS, unless you were a Troll or Dwarf, in which case one of the weapons would have a slight edge over the other because of the relevant racial abilities.

The point to take away here is that you select your ranged weapon not based on whether it's a bow, gun, or crossbow, but based on its DPS and stats.
