good evening,
I want to get raiding with my Warlock and am unsure which spec to choose. I have no preferred spec in PvE, just want to be effective.
I understand some specs are better at certain gear levels? I my GS is currently around 5k, what would be the best spec at this state?

currently I do not have any set pieces, and I guess it will take me a little until I have enough EoFs to buy some. Is there any specific stat priority, other than the ones given in the Destro guides in the forums?
At what point do I switch my spec and to what spec do I switch to?

Haste is ur best friend and crit is his right hand.
U switch to what ever u want to play, u can check all specs on heroic dummy and see what suits u..in middle to late end game all specs are viable.

I addition, you may want to have a Demonology spec as your off-spec, because irrespective of the DPS you do, you could have a better chance of getting in a bigger raid (25-mans) than as a Destruction or an Affliction warlock. I believe that both Destruction and Affliction are viable later in the game too, and Demonology is a necessity still. Personally, I think "hybrid" spec that a lot of warlocks run with sucks but it's subject to preference if you want to try that out, I guess.

If you are 5K GS, and with no raiding guild i would suggest Demo. Most raid leaders with some common sense will always bring one Demo Lock into the raid. I can be a little hard to get into the raid with "low GS" so Demo is your friend here. Later on, when you get some good gear, switch to Destro / Hybrid. With some really good gear Afflic will reach it's full potential, but Destro will still be good if you want to stick to that.

I actually have a raiding guild, this is just going to be an alt. all our active locks are Demo and 6k+ GS :)
So Destro it is and I will keep Demo as my off spec.
And see if I can get my hands on some haste gear. Is competition hard for these? does any other class have haste as their main stat? Shamans and Shadow priests maybe? But then Shamans wont roll for cloth gear ofc ;)

Holy priests and resto druids (many bis items are cloth for them unfortunatelly).

Doesn't really matter. Both Afflic and Destro are good. Play the one you enjoy the most. I usually switch between those two every month or so.

Actually it does matter, i can't do **** as affli at current rate but in destro i can do some decent dmg..i have few pvp items only atm.

just two more things:
- Are the PvE guides on the forums still up to date and true for the new core? especially the Demo guides are both pretty old ...
- And does anyone have a good gear progression list? i ve accumulated a good amount of gold and am somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer number of PoE items on the auction house :)

Mate, with only few PvP items i think you can't do **** with both Destro and Afflic. You can't ignore resilliance, go YOLO and later on blame it on the spec. When you get good PvP gear, you will see that both Destro and Afflic are good, but Afflic requires a bit more resilliance.
