Edit: about booze, one of the main reasons foreigners visit Bulgaria in the summer is alcohol tourism. A beer would cost you around EUR 1.50 - 2.00, while a small vodka would be no more than EUR 4.

Prices in stores are even more staggering - a two-litre PET bottle of beer costs around EUR 1.20 and you can get a vodka or wine bottle for less than EUR 7.

We get news about drunk tourists at our seaside on a regular basis every summer, so we're kinda used to it...

So where was I? Oh, yes! 50 dollars, you say? Well, that's 70 litres of our best beer OR something like 4 bottles of good whiskey, or 6 bottles of vodka. I'm a bad drinker, so I can only drink around 3 litres of beer or half a bottle of whiskey by myself, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need friends for the rest. For 50 dollars I can get more like 15 people drunk.

It's not really all that cheap mate. Buy something other than Babanu' and see the cost go way high. Unlike bread and stuff, alcohol can go from piss cheap to ultra expensive.
