1. Price of faction change is too damn high

So I leveled up and geared a character in ally just to realize that one of the best guild in the server is in the horde side and is formed only with people of my country. Of course I would love to change factions now, but 30€ for that it's just too much...
If it was like 10 or even 15€ I would buy it in a blink of an eye, but 30 it's just being greedy, plain simple.
My question is just one: Why make a faction change that expensive?

It's only 20 euro on retail for a faction change.....
I really dont see why Warmane charge so much D:

  3. To discourage its casual use. We don't want players flip-flopping around factions and, as your reaction shows, a high cost is the best way to achieve that, even better than simple "time limits."

But... why not? Wow is a social game. That's the main diference between it and any other rpg. Be real, is the main diference between Warmane servers and any other private server. You have more population, you get more players.
When I built my char I wasn't really expecting to reach lvl 80 even, I just wanted to try, but Icecrown server really hooked me again. I didn't checked the guild status prior, maybe I should. But is frustrating to see a portuguese raiding guild doing raids at the ideal hours for me and doing icc25hc and I need to wait a month to accumulate enough points to change factions and start playing with them.

I'm not saying you should do it for free. Hell, you already do it if one is patient enough to accumulate points, wich I am. But I would pay, if you weren't so greedy.

you could also just make a new toon on horde and get it to 80. it takes all of 2 days to do 1-80. then a week or so to gear it to the point of being ready to raid. but nah, making it warmanes problem by saying they're to greedy works better than that, it'll definitely make them lower the price.

  6. But... why not? Wow is a social game.
It doesn't stops being a social game because changing factions has a high cost. It wouldn't even stop if there was no faction change at all. The cost on retail is also high. Yes, it's cheaper if you look at it isolated, but you're also already paying 15 bucks a month, while here there's no subscription, so which is cheaper in the big picture?

It takes some guts to keep a straight face calling us greedy right after pointing out yourself that we even offer a free option.

Well... if they charged 15 coins for it, I would buy. Instead, I'll just farm points. The paid service should compensate the free one. That's why most gear is 22 coins and 30 points.

Also, the points service should and do server as a bonus. You can get like 1 pice of gear per month, that's a cool thing. Everyone can play the game almost exactly the same, and you get a free piece of gear to motivate you to keep playing. It's a bonus. Faction change isn't just a bonus, is something that really can change how you play and even if you get the chance to play or not. You know that half of the guilds in this server are divided my country, it's only understandable that people want to play to the ones closer to their home.

Imagine that there aren't many players in your side that 1- speak your language and 2- raid in hours that are reasonable for your country hour-time. Now imagine that you realize that there is another guild on tother side that can give you all of that, but you need to wait a full month to change faction because of burucracy. That sucks...

I don't have much free time so creating another toon isn't an option. Also my char in ally side is decent so it's way better to just change factions.

One way to fix this would be the chance to get negative points for the first faction change. For example, I have 16 points, so I could faction change right now and get -14 points. If a player got his friends on the other side he could start playing with them right away. He would still have to wait the exact same time to have points for gear, so this wouldn't affect the status quo of buying gear with points. I don't see any problem with this aproach, does anyone?

warmanes not a bank, i can't see them giving us overdraft for points haha. you could at the very least make a new toon and play with that group, getting to know them until you can finally save the points to transfer over.

Already did, but I wanted to raid not chit-chat.
Although warmane can be free, be real, most players here, me included, have paid for things here and there in the past.
And being that unflexible against something as trivial as faction change makes me less disposed to donate again in the future.

eh, i get your point. but Obnoxious already gave you the staff's reasoning. i wouldn't bet on them changing it anytime soon. most you can do is save up the points and transfer soon as ya can.

It sucks having a valid sugestion toss to trash by a single person so easly, without even a consideration or try to reach a middle ground. This isn't a free server where everyone is pro bono. This is a server where you have to pay not to wait 2 hours for a chance of playtime, and where there is a chance to pay quantities like 400-500€ for a toon. We are not just a community, we are costummers, and if Warmane's goal is to get people to donate more for something that trivial, this is not the way, because honestly this makes me not want do donate a single penny anymore.

I don't think he answered without asking or considering. And, as he also pointed out, as long as you play here for at least a month then this is cheaper.

    *but i've bought something before*
Unless you've bought full sets etc I dont think that overcomes that. 3 items price on warmane is approximetly equal to 4 months playing with having to pay on retail. So... It's still cheaper for most people, I believe.

Of course Warmane is still cheaper that the retail... you think any private would survive if it wasn't?
    The point is:
1- when you have a server that have insta 80, characters and gear selling, 7x rates, saying that you have to require an expensive faction to change because too much of it will unbalance the server is just a lie.
2- When you already require a donnation to skip the queu because the server is already at 12 000 players (I always wonder who is the poor **** that gets disco for me to get in) and when you are making money out of selling characters and gear, making something as trivial as faction change costs 30€ is - indeed - greedy.

    Its not trivial.
