Community based Feedback? Hard when the topic is closed: Gold Squish
So today is the first day I've even heard of this resetting of rates, and gold squish. And the only reason I saw it was because it was on Facebook, so Warmane if you are gonna make huge changes on your realms, at least notify us about it BEFORE its a closed topic. Now any "useful" feedback you may get is going to be tainted with everyone's dislike of how you treat your players. Keep us informed damnit.
Secondarily, how does any of this help "new" players? Not at all because their first account will be so lacking in proffessions and gold, or the ability to make gold, that the new players will always feel the old players had a supreme advantage while leveling.
Tertiarily, if this is for the benefit of the realm in the long run to make your servers more Blizz-like, at least fix all the bugs for playing individual classes, and maybe boss mechanics too. THESE are far more important than your backwater broken questlines, and your ability to control an economy. Make the game work first, the economy will be more balanced because the game is more balanced...
Hello Warmane staff/players im posting this here because the main post is closed.Firstly i want to say that im neither pro nor against reduced rates/gold.Im playing wow since 2007 only on private servers(few months on retail). In all these years ive played on quite a few servers, most of them having increased xp rates and 1x proffesion rates and on all of them the economy was nothing like youre saying its gonna be, ppl were still flooding the ah with overpriced items.Like a lot of the ppl stated on the main toppic, nothing and nobody would stop anyone for putting overpriced items on ah, and there will ever be desperate enough ppl to buy them making your change useless. In my oppinion the economy problem is unavoidable and the only way you can fix it is with a wipe(this is only my oppinion on how to fix the economy). In time, if you will make the change you will realise that it was for nothing and you will lose lots of players of nothing.
Proterean stated a few times that this change is to accomodate the blizzlike concept, well if we wanted to play on a blizzlike realm, now Lordaeron would have 12k+ players and Icecrown would have 2.5k. This is the part that you dont understand, WE CHOSE THIS REALMS BECAUSE OF HIGHER RATES.Practically what you are doing now is forcing us to do something that we dont want.We get it, you're the staff, you own the server, but the server would be 0 without its players.Dont force players to do things against their will.
Proterean said that feedback will be taken into consideration. On the main toppic almost everybody said no to the change. If feedback is really taken into consideration, make a poll, that way everybody gets to say their oppinion.
This show us how much they care what we think as a community. They've closed the tread(where they've wanted our feedback and opinion),bcuz 80-90% of the players were against this idea. And the saddest thing is that this idea is comming from Lordaeron information thread.
About three weeks ago, myself + a group of guys I've gamed with for years decided to come play Warmane/Icecrown solely because of the rates. We love playing WoW, but with our busy work schedule and with the time difference between some of our locations, playing on retail or other blizz-like servers was just not feasible.
I don't know much about the staff here, but this being the first big thing I've seen, these guys are leaving a sour taste in my mouth. It's clear that they'd made the decision without taking the community's input into consideration. Locking that original topic because it didn't go their way is just laughable.
With professions changing to x1, my guess is that they feel people will be more enticed to use the service feature to level their profession. I see this as not trying to help the server, because my understanding is that this specific server was designed to be high rate, but only as a way for them to benefit themselves.
They say that we have plenty of time to take advantage of the x7 professions - sure, that's true. But lets think about this a bit. I'll use enchanting and JC as two examples.
1) Enchanting: Leveling your character at 7x exp is pretty fast. You level so fast that you don't even have the opportunity to get gear that you can use. How do they expect new players to get enough gear to disenchant to level their profession? This will just cause those of us who already have enchanting to have more of a strong hold on that profession. If I was starting as a new player after this change, no way in hell would I want to go level enchanting because of what I just said.
2) JC - same thing. I've been mining and I am seeing inconsistencies in ore. On retail, I was able to get ore more frequently. Here, I can go most of the time not finding any ore, and then other times I'll find one node that will re-spawn in the same spot 2-3x after mining it. With that said, JC would be a nightmare and no way would I have the time for this with my schedule and this goes to many other people out there.
With that said, if these changes take effect, I'll be on my way out. I already have the characters and professions I want/need -- so the reason I'll leave is because the staff here will have demonstrated their lack of care for their community.
Tbh the whole point of a higher rated realm is for players who don't like lower rates (like me) to play there an enjoy a more casual version of the game. If only the player base had any kind of power here.
Well I just Started lvling On frostwolf and I see this
seems gona have hard time from Now on , although , I also dislike this new implementation <---- that's my Vote :P ,
And the auction house will be inflated anyway , even its implemented .
Lets see what Result comes up , after implementation --> Healthy or Unhealthy
As soon as I saw the news yesterday, I asked in guild chat what the hell is that and I haven't seen a single positive reply in /g.
I scrolled that thread, read a few pages, rest I figured was all the same.
I completely agree with the person who said something like "If I wanted to play on x1 I'd go for Lordaeron!".
Making profession leveling a pain the *** doesn't make it blizzlike but rather fixing Sindragosa's heroic Unchained magic timer, blistering in last phase and a ton of bugged quests, achievements and little things in dungeons like that Gundrak double loot, mobs falling down...
Gold squish wouldn't hurt any of the guys who already have gold above the cap with 2 guild banks full, it would hurt the ones leveling first characters!
Do you even play on your servers? I guess not since you haven't seen how much beggars we have! And you can see when someone is honestly asking for help and when he's just making easy gold, a lot of them are actually asking for help now you wanna give them x3 instead of x7 gold + take away the pitiful half of what they already DON'T have?
Some poor guy the other day couldn't press "Need" on that Culling Of Startholme drake cause he didn't have the fast flying skill, I bet he's not the only one. Now imagine gathering gold, having 4k, thinking "Oh, just a few more Frozen Orbs/Abyss/Shards and I can get the fast mount!", logging in the next day and seeing that you now have 2k, and mount still costs 5k + repair for platers 100g on all yellow, thanks a lot, Warmane.
Professions: now, at this very moment, leveling enchanting or jewlcrafting is incredibly painful since nobody is farming low level mats, and if there's 1-2 of those vanilla mats you need it costs more than a stack of end game dust or shard or whatever the hell you might need. And finally being able to get the skill to 350 and being able to finish it to make it payoff a bit is such an awesome feeling, if it were x1 when I started I would have just gone straight up mining/herbalism on 2 chars, then other 2 I'd go for mining/skinning.
But hey, the profession only costs 30 on the website "and if you don't like the x1 you can skip it (just like the queue) by purchasing it!", while you're at it you might just buy some gold if you're lazy to farm it for the mount.
I think that pretty much sums up all I had to say, good luck with that change, you're gonna need it.
I disagree completly with these changes, I mean, I came to play to this server because it had these rates, and now they change them? Why? This server is full most of the day, that probably means that people likes something about it, I don't see why you think is necessary to change it.
Now, while I don't like it, I can accept and act around the changes made to the gold drop rate and the gold squish. You just buy stuff, level your professions, etc. However, what really annoys me are the changes made to the Profession and Reputation. You already have a x1 server, what's the point of this? I think that if you desperatly feel the need to change them you should make them x3, less than that is just wrong for this server.
I know that "There is plenty of time to level professions on your characters at x7 rates as well as spend your gold until 2017.", but that's not the point. The problem is that AFTER the changes I would be very discouraged of making a new character because I don't feel like training a profession from scratch to 450 with x1 rates (which is the reason why I and others came to Icecrown in the first place).
And yes, I know that this probably won't change anything, that they will do whatever they want, that these changes increase the value of donating money to Warmane, that some people will go away, others will come, that some people will abuse the changes making money, and that others will lose money because they forgot about it, but hey, at least I tried...
I see why an occassional golddrain would be good. I also understand you don't fix the economy in the long run.
One of Blizzards mechanisms to make their economy stable is gear repairs.
I was wondering how high are the rates for gear repair on the servers? And shouldn't they be 7x as well?
Besides that, I think it's a very very bad idea to make major changes for leveling professions and reputation. Those rates are what make this realm playable.
Whats the point of lowering the profession rates?
It doesnt make sense to have x1 prof rates while xp rates are x7.
Nobody who levels up on x7 xp rates gonna be able to catch up with his professions when they have only x1 rates!
To me it seems like these changes to professions are only done to make ppl donate more for instant max profs.
Also im not a fan of the gold squish. I like the idea to reduce the gold rates and that alone should be enough to reduce the inflation.
Cutting the total gold in half will make ppl investing all their gold in items before the gold squish even happens.
Such a big intervention in the economy can only lead to a negative effect on it and other than that it discourage the playerbase when they lose half of their gold.
