I'm playing as Resto Shaman. Soon I will level 40, and people say I should start wearing mail.

My question is why? I know I get extra 5% intellect if I wear all mail, but that doesn't seem that much. I think I would get more intellect and spirit with Cloth/Leather gear.

Is the 5% stat bonus for wearing the same kind of armor not a cata perk?

That's cata, doesn't matter what you wear as long as it has good stats.
