1. Started up on Icecrown, forgot how hard this game used to be.

So I quit retail during WoD beacuse Garrisons are cancer and am holding off on Legion for a few months to see what people thing about it after the "omg its sooo gud" phase wears off. I started on Molten (which is now apparently warmane, must be an interesting story there) years ago and decided I wanted to get some Wrath fix and man, I didn't realize just how difficult this game was.

So many QoL changes that Blizz made to retail and now I realized why I was so bored. You don't have to think for yourself at all, the game does everything for you. Hell I was leveling without ever leaving stormwind by just queuing as tank for the RDF. Warmane scratches that wow itch that I forgot was there and I love it.

  2. Well, when you have 100 levels instead of 80, it's normal to want speed up the rate at which players advance through lower level content so as not to take reaching max level an unreasonable amount of time. Bringing up the tediousness involved in the leveling process in earlier expansions whilst ignoring the differences in the content at end-game is a tired old tactic at this point.

It's also funny you brought up RDF-levelling. WotLK was the first expansion where RDF levelling actually became a thing. That only doesn't happen on Lordaeron because RDF is disabled, and it doesn't happen on Icecrown because people don't stay low level very long at x7 leveling rates. WotLK is among the most casual-friendly expansions Blizzard has ever released (something which remains part of its appeal), takes 5-man heroic dungeons to new heights of face-roll, and Icecrown being a 3.3 patch WotLK server features an ICC instance where everyone has the benefit of the +30% buff, and where all prior raid tiers are also significantly trivialized by the availability of ICC gear. It doesn't get a lot easier than that.

  3. RDF levelling works on IC, the queue just tends to be longer unless you que as healer or tank

  4. Theres a vid on youtube of a guy getting 1-100 in 2h 14min -_- Just shows how ridiculous Blizz has made the game. The dumbing down started with Cata and the talents, and making the game more and more kid friendly. It just quickly went downhill after that.

  5. if everyone will make threads about what they forgot, this forum will explode.

  6. The dumbing down started with Cata and the talents, and making the game more and more kid friendly. It just quickly went downhill after that.
Yeah because cutting down the number of filler or straight up mandatory talents whilst introducing complexities via class mechanics in several other unprecedented ways is making it kid-friendly.

Here's a reality check: Cata released with raids and 5-man heroic dungeons in drastically difficult states compared to what Wrath babies had become accustomed to, and as a result RDF queue times soared and said wrath babies began leaving the game in droves.

  7. Getting to 80 on Icecrown takes like 2 days. Gearing up to 4k GS takes another 2. It takes around a week to reach 5k GS, and it takes around a month to reach 6k GS. And this is if you're NOT hardcore. I've reached 5k GS within 2 days of getting 80. You consider that hard?

    I find your post disturbing.

I stopped playing on WotLK because there is nothing the expansion can offer me any longer. I've completed all WotLK content over and over, including back when most of nowadays' 6k GS scrubs weren't even playing on this server yet, including back when PUGs used to normally RO on PP, including realm-firsts...

I'm currently playing on Cata, because class development on that expansion is far superior to any other expansion, as well as raid encounter variety. Of course, on another server - I tried Neltharion just recently and it's absolutely horrible, even worse than before the fixes.

That's completely out of line. The interface got way more simple, talents more simple as well however the fights got more complex - So much more complex that you actually have to respec your talents for specific fights in order to obtain the maximum output of your class. I can ensure you that if we were to throw 90% of the so called HC raiders of this server into Mythic raids they would bash their heads against the wall for months because they won't be able to understand the concept of those fights. The content provided by WOTLK is simple, the nostalgia is huge though; That's what makes people play it over and over again.

The mechanics from this content are really linear while compared to the current ones. If you want a picture of that, step in Highmaul Mythic and tell me your thoughts about it once you down it with a bunch of level 100's.
