from what I see in Lordaeron's RDF menu (the menu still works although the feature is disabled) you need about 3.5k gs to start queuing Heroic

You need at least 3.5k to join heroics...

If you're still wearing heirloom(s),change them to rep items,as they have an ilvl of 1,while having(relatively) high gs.

I guess you need item levels at 200 or so..

I'm at 185 ilvl (around 3k gearscore) and still can't queue for heroic dungeons. The retail requirement is 180 ilvl.
If the requirement really is 200 ilvl, then it's utterly stupid since heroic dungeons drop 200ilvl gear (except ToC and Icecrown dungeons), and you can't achieve 200 by grinding normal dungeon since guess what ... they drop 187 ilvl gear.

same situation, I'm at 3.1k gs, average ilevel is between 190 and 200, and I can't even queue for the last 4 normal dungeons. I'm a tank and normal dungeons are a joke at this point. I played wotlk in retail and the requirements were definitely a lot less. It's tough with the economy on thsi server to try to level BS/craft enough to get even higher than what the dungeons will give me. I guess I have to farm triumphs and frost emblems and just do randoms each day for 2 more weeks....

I can feel your frustration but here are a couple easy things you can do :
- Run ICC rep farm for the first tier ring (251 ilvl). The last tier is probably BiS (or at least very decent) ring anyway.
- On top of that, another 264 ring drops on ICC trash, as well as a ranged wep if you're a warrior. If you can't have them drop, you can buy them for around 1.5k gold. (Ranged wep is actually cheaper).
- Run the ICC dungeons in normal mode (FoS, PoS, HoR) the old fashioned way, without dungeon finder. They're a piece of cake even at 200 ilvl (given your DPS and Healer have eyes and brain). Make sure you complete the quest for extra emblems.

At this point, you should easily attain 4 or 4.5k GS.

Now the next step is to farm Emblems of Triumph anyway. Why ? Because when you see something like "ToC 10 N LF Heal and DPS 6k+ /w achiev or no inv" you'll understand that unless you find your way into a good guild asap, you won't be raiding until you have AT LEAST 5k GS.

The gap between normal and heroic can be annoying, but you have to put in time to get the gap bridge. Also with the VP shop change, you can now spend 18-19 points on gear to bridge the gap and get you that extra push to heroics.
