1. actually idk about the new core but the lord hype train was ridiculous, it had a cascade effect on population for rag.. lots of folks initially got swept up into the hype and rolled on lord and the pop was noticeably smaller there, at some point it was a literal ghost town so i said fk it and went too, im sure others did as well... even if we didnt want 1x
I'm not aware of that hype train, maybe because I started playing in may. Well, the hype train is on Icecrown now it seems. I knew beforehand that me coming here to post was a lost cause anyway. If only Icecrown was 1x... or Lordaeron had RDF and 4k - 8k ppl... well, sometime in the future maybe. Thanks for replying

  2. the only reason lord ever had 12k people online is because half of us moved there from deathwing/ragnaros while we waited for our realms to get lords core. 1x rates aren't appealing to the majority of players. combine that with no rdf and buffed bosses, and you get a less populated realm. and i personally don't see that changing much even once lord has everything released.

  3. ^ I see, I was not aware of this hype train changing in the past. Thank you for that clarification.

  4. It is not advertising. If I said 'come to Lordaeron people, we have that and that, it's better that Icecrown because we have that etc', yes, it would've been advertising. If you read my post, I made it clearly that the Random Dungeon Finder was created by Blizzard to facilitate ... dungeon finding..., not the dungeon itself. Sure, you are teleported to the dungeon but I'd take that any day instead of spamming general chat or /global to find a group, or whispering to people that are in the same zone as me... really bothersome don't you think? It would've been ideal if the DF helped you only to create a group, and after that it's up to the players what they do to reach it, fly to it, ride your mount to it....
I know it's not advertising, you're more like asking Icecrown players to move to Lordaeron server just because apparently you worry too much about Lordaeron's population, but the thing is, most of us don't want to level in x1 rates, or not really up for it. That's why I suggested you to advertise elsewhere, meaning another projects, who knows, I'm aware it's not a real clean move, but still, lots of people actually bother with it, it could be your case. Also, keep in mind that in the past, back in molten era, these servers had 3.5k / 4k caps and everyone was all happy with that, and Lordaeron still peaks 6,5k+ (peaked 6,8k today I think), so it's still very populated. Even 5k is. So don't worry, Lordaeron is not dying, and I believe it will still grow (I don't know how much, we will see) after ICC release.
I haven't said anything about RDF making the dungeon itself easier, I know what it is for, and Warmane decided to keep it disabled, and there's a big chance that it won't be enabled, ever. Warmane said several times they want to encourage players to travel through the world and communicate with others while searching for groups in trade/general/global chat, just like in vanilla style, I guess you just need to do that if you want to play in dungeons and raids. Bothersome? Well, I played a lot of vanilla, so, personally I'm kinda used to it, but I totally understand your point, as it's also "blizzlikey", but Warmane doesn't want it for now...

  5. ^ Point taken. I actually made a polite rant about it (the RDF) back in may and I was largely ignored; my post was even deleted afterwards. Anyway, I was more concerned with the 1.5k - 2k during the night, but I most of us play during the day so I guess 6k is also quite alright.

Just for the info, is anyone of you aware back in vanilla or TBC how populated a medium or high realm was? Medium being equal to how much K? 3-4?

  6. I would do it for gold and cool items
Can they just perma ban this guy already, he will clearly never be a productive member of the community...

  7. It drops to 1.5k after some time period; 1.5k is not enough. Whereas 6k to 12k Icecrown is much better.
Well, that happens when the bulk of the community is from one region.

Keep it up, honey. It won't take much more for me to give you a reason to dislike me.

Let's be real here. The old Lordaeron was the least populated realm at the time too.

true, but back then as well there was more bugs which made leveling on 1x that much less appealing. the fact that you guys have a 1x realm that regularly hits 6k+ is impressive.

  9. Sort of stealing this thread, would it be possible to add an option to arenas so that Lordearon (once ICC hits), Icecrown and Blackrock have cross realm arenas? You have the normal 2s/3s rating for only playing on your server and then also a "global" one, would boost arena participation across the board.

  10. Let Icecrown players go Icecrown and Lordaeron players go Lordaeron. To each their own I say.

Besides, no more queue in Lordaeron, yay.

Super long-term goal. Nothing beyond that. Stick to the topic please.

Ya, 6k is nothing to scoff at.

  12. ^ It was naive of me to think someone would actually move to another realm if asked asked or begged. Leaving that aside, could you bring forth a few arguments, Mercy, about why the RDF is disabled on Lordaeron? Thank you

  13. Well, initially it was disabled because that was part of the staff's design decision for the "hardcore realm". A "back in the old days" sort of thing. Nowadays, it's being reconsidered (no confirm or deny as of yet) to be available for ICC+ as that was when it was introduced on retail. That's about all I can say to the effect of RDF.

  14. ^ I understand the motive behind the disabling of the RDF but (I hope Warmane staff sees this) the RDF is about facilitating finding groups for dungeons, and not facilitating the dungeons experience itself. Please understand this. No one wants to spam /general and /global for 30 min, or whispering to people of the same level in order to form a group for a dungeon - it's really tiresome. Is there a possibility that the RDF could be enabled and function only to help form the group? - w/o the teleportation to the dungeon. Thank you

  15. @Mercy, i my opinion, the best solution would be something like a Looking for group tool that allows you to list yourself for dungeons so people could find groups without spamming global. This wouldn't remove the hardcore aspect as you could still pick who to invite and it wouldn't teleport you to dungeons like rdf. It's pretty much the raid finder that exists in 3.3.5, except it's for dungeons. The only problem is that kind of thing doesn't exist in the client and i think that is the only major obstacle in this solution.
