Greetings, I am opening this thread to share idea of something that probably most of old cataclysm players would like to see. As a veteran player of molten/warmane, I would like to discuss about Cataclyms, Neltharion realm. As we can all see, Neltharion is dying, no matter what changes Neltharion gets, people will keep playing on Icecrown and Frostwolf because they got simply fed of cataclysm.
My idea is letting everyone refund their items on Cataclysm only, and invest coins into something else, Warmane wouldn't have any loss as they got money anyway, It would just make A LOT OF US happy staying here. I don't feel like doing anything would bring Neltharion old population, maybe 100-200 more players. I know there is still 'a lot' of people playing on Cataclysm, I am not trying to disrespect them at all, but I am sure a lot of them wish they could refund their items and move on mop/wotlk instead of playing on realm that has 1 hour queue to arena.
I know this idea makes no profit to Warmane sadly but still, it would really make a lot of us old players way happier spending hours on Warmane realms.

why should they refund coins? you bought items, you got to and still can use them. just because you no longer wnat to play on that realm doesn't mean warmane should refund your coins.

Simply because having BIS characters on dead realm makes no sense, It is not the same situation as when coins were spent, Neltharion had over 3k active players daily.

refund for Bis chars ? which ppl geared by exploiting alt loot bug ?? and create many more pve geared rets on wotlk.... sure no
u might only get refund for items which u got from marketplace, that only if they close neltharion.
But still i guess they should focus on reviving neltharion again.

I am amazed to say this, but this really is half of a good idea, half bad. The server is dying really. I really like cataclysm, but you can't play a server with 200-300 people.... If they don't revive it maybe they can give you percent of the invested coins in characters, it will be a good start in a new server.
I play on Icecrown at the moment, cause of the population and friends. I have cata characters one nearly BiS shaman (donated) and warrior with a few donated items and this characters are really useless at the moment. Same with other friends.
So if Warmane doesn't want to revive somehow the Cata server it can give us some compensation, not full ofc cause it will be ridicilous

I got items from marketplace, and yes, I am talking only about items that were bought with coins. Read before you reply.
I bought 3 BIS chars with coins on realm that died.
Good reply actually, implementing fee of refund is totally fine as I don't mind getting even 30% of all spent coins, better something then nothing, my characters have no use with 200 active people on realm.Edited: February 28, 2017

And still stop making these dumb threads asking refunds of ur DONATIONS (Charity).
I dont think warmane is currently thinking of closing neltharion, so stop this negativity. And if they close it, they wont make veterans like u angry.

They are not abliged for giving any refund. But they will give compensation (guess) even to non-donors for lost chars(time), only if they decide to close (lets hope it never happens).

Unsure of the endgame fate of the realm, but if it comes to a point where the realm will be no more, allow transfer of characters to MoP, at the moment it is kinda like an old mining town, the gold rush is over, but there are a few miners still trying to dig for a nugget

If they would refund the coins on the Cata server it would make the problem even bigger with more people quitting. They should instead make something like a small repopulation event which gives prices like coins(coins to spend on that server, not on others else people would play on cata server and go back) for playing there and reaching certain conditions or something.

refund is great idea... mid day 400 ppl online... instant server has more ppl online on most times during day... repopulation with price events?!?! that makes no sense everything is farmed blue chars have ds and fl hc achivs from being carried just cause ppl can... what would reignite server might be fixing bwd to end and throne so you dont fall down like potato when you try to switch platforms... old content working like icc and ulduar... what is hilarious icc works on wotlk and mop servers but not on cata one same is with ulduar i believe... they just dont do enough effort on cata server to make it fun and enjoyable for ppl... i spent around 600 coins at start of server was gud was nice was even made promise we will get eventually things scripted and we will have old content... almost 3 years later it is all empty words.... sorry but refund is gud idea if developers and owenrs cant keep their words up then give refund and stop trolling ppl...

I think the concept of REFUND is not a positive action... but to allow a trade in by value. There is no coin recurrence, therefor, no move of the economy. That would allow you get to items you want for a trade of the same value as what you had. Therefor, no gain, no loss.
But at the same time, allowing free transfers, IF the realm gets 86'd, would be smart as well. Just like they did with Warsong.
BUT, the problem then is, you can't really take an 85 to a WotLK server. For MORE then obvious reasons. But to move up to MoP would be acceptable, as you still have room to grow. But my thought is that with this transfer, you keep everything you have. Unlike when they had transfers from Warsong, where they gold capped, and bag capped. That would allow you to keep going. Still progressing. Still growing. Still leveling.
Obviously you'd have some inflation in that realm from this. But nothing unmanageable. It can be worked around pretty easily.
For whatever sake. If worse came to worse and people didn't wanna abandon Nelth, throw in an incentive. Something small and not to big on Warmane of course. Whether it be gold, a piece of gear(ONE), or something else that people could actually use, but isn't going to skip them to end game or anything.
Those are my thoughts.

IF this happens, it would allow for WoD server to try and come back. Therefor, launching Warmane up because they're closer to the most recent update. Makes us more...what's the word...sellable?
Like if I told a friend to come here. And he plays WoD. He wants to still play that. He can. Where as right now, he would have to hop back an expansion. Most people aren't willing to do that. Like the stubborn(like me) of Nelth and Cata.Edited: March 12, 2017

Cata is my, was my, favourite expansion but in its current state its unplayable sadly
Last week me and my friend tried a bg in nelth and after 30 mins of quee time in the afternoon we got a WG with 6 people... i was really sad since i have donated about 2k$ in hopes that the cata servers would improve but the only thing that got better was that ****ty lichking(this is only my opinion so dont hate me for it pls xD)
Btw Apolemicc im totally digging your idea about getting a wod server instead of the cata one but the problem is that blizzard started wiping old content starting with wrath so scripting newer expansions takes a lot more work and i think this is the main reason that warmane turned out to be so lich king oriented
So creating a new server would only lead.to.2 half.dead expansions and by this i mean frostwolf and the "future" wod realm
It would be for the best if they just closed cata for good and started shifting their focus to mop but thats just my 2 cents
Before cata players start bashing me for this comment,i didnt wish for this to.happen either, i was fighting for cata realm to stay open,but this is going nowhere
i have 10 donated BiS chars on cata all with donated professions and recipes with tons of donated mounts, cosmetic stuffs and the only person on the realm who has the legendary daggers
Ps. I wouldnt even mind if they just deleted the whole realm without refunds even if it meant 2k$ down the gutter for me, if that meant that they provide just half as much attention to mop as the lk realms get

I'm absolutely with you on the idea of if it gets hit down. I still think the idea of a WoD server would be great. As far as the scripting, I'd happily help myself. I've looked for if Warmane needs people on staff even for simple stuff and got nothing.
