Mercy, can you share your opinion about what the main reasons are?

Warmane has worked alot on Wotlk. Thanks to that it makes them lauch TBC and Vanilla(hopefully) as they just have to go back and nerf the bosses of wotlk and lauch the same(already scripted) dungeons in tbc. I think its a good move as they can provide tbc and vanilla with very good content as compared to those other two(nelt and frost)
Tbh I think frostwolf is safe and the devs also work on it frequently. But i think they soon will clear cata scripts and lauch a vanilla server out of Neltharion. And if warmane gives tbc , vanilla and wotlk , i bet it will account for more than 50% of community of players who play on private server on those patches. All thanks to the scripting of wotlk.

There are two reasons to that-
1. The combined pve content in mop and cata is really more that wotlk. It will take them a year to fully script and Dragon Soul and Firelands (both normal and HC) again. I am not saying they need to, i just want to indicate the amount of time it takes to work with such content. So yeah, don't hope that they will go to WoD(more and more content) because alot of Mop is still unscripted and with Outland out, i dont think they will get much attention.
2. As it happens , tbc, vanilla and wotlk have the maximum share of players . There are no private servers with english speaking population with more than 2k players in cata, mop or WoD. But the old expansions catch a lot of players.
Here's a screenshot of the molten-wow front page from July 2013: http://web.archive.org/web/201307291...olten-wow.com/
If we take a look there are:
11,672 players on the WotLK realms
13,557 players on the Cata realms
Here's a look at Jan 2015, right after moltdown: http://web.archive.org/web/201501292...olten-wow.com/
9,123 players on the WotLK realms
9,197 players on the MoP realms
I'm gonna go ahead and say that the evidence shows players play on the expansion that gets the developer's attention. Wotlk used to be very poorly scripted, I'm sure everyone from back then still around would agree with that. If MoP had received the attention WotLK did after molt-down, I'm fairly certain we would have a 12k MoP realm right now instead.
But hey, maybe I'm wrong. If this isn't the only, nor the main reason for MoP dying right now, maybe you can tell us what the main, or only reason is?
Youre not wrong
Cata and mop were always more popular, but they were neglected and we can see what this lead to
To anwer the topic,
The move forward not backward mentality was never present on warmane, it might have been present on molteb but not here, ever since moltdown we have only went backwards
It's not actually moving backward, all xpacs have and will have it's own players cause people find them enjoying most. However, molten or warmane have this community because of their good work that's why they're planning TBC maybe even Vanilla later especially nothing change with Nostalrius. But the important thing on all xpacs is development since wotlk servers are quite impressive according to MoP/Cata it's much easier focus on TBC. I personally won't think warmane consider wod till they catch the wotlk quality on mop server, cause when they provide a high quality MoP, population will increase by own and it'll lead us to wod. Also It's not actually an outcry situtaion. It's more of a schedule or planning. And also every work on Vanilla/TBC and wotlk will work in each of them, eventually it'll come to an end and all developers find themselves they have only Cata/MoP/wod infront of themselves. Cause, you know you'll always focus and finish what is easy and fast to do firstly.
The only thing I can gather from this thread is people are butthurt they weren't told about the development of the new realm, it's perfectly normal to not announce internal projects. As far as development focus, it was generally regarded Wotlk> Mop > cata, what did you expect them to say? Secret Realm > WotlK > MOP > Cata ? Seriously? The crybabies from Reddit must have invaded.
