Icecrown Politics/ BANNING HOSTS OF RAIDS WITH RESERVED DROPS/
Hi,
It has come to my attention that most of the raids in the server itself has the words BOE RES, ORB RES, RECIPE RES, and a lot more else. Well to put it simply the hosts of raids take the ch.ance of getting these items because they are hosting the said raid. Why I deemed this bannable is because of the backlash it provides to new and growing players of the entire society. If the only way to get recipes, primordial saronites, and anything that is necessary for a profession or a specific item is by buying with gold which is then farmed from quest and selling items looted from a profession. Isn't that a bit alarming? It'll take hours and hours of questing/profession looting to just buy a primordial saronite which at least cost 850 - 950g. BOEs like wodins, stiffened corpse, and such are even being hoarded by hosts that reserve this, instead of letting people that NEED those items take them. Man how this feels like the government, corrupt and will do anything to get their way. Besides when you think about it isn't it already considered Ninja? I mean if your the host and your a rogue and then you take stiffened corpse or harbinger bone band or ring of rotting sinew which are items that don't help you in anyway for your class. Then isn't it already bannable?
When you imagine having no reserved loot for the server, means a lot of people not having problems with gear score, means blacksmiths, and other professions have higher chances of getting recipes that they need. Well technically making the society itself all a bit more better.
Well, first of all PuG leaders wouldn't reserve anything, if people refused to join their "everything reserved" raids. But they complain and then join anyway, because hosting a a PuG is too much effort. Phew.
How many times did you make a pug run ? if not you should try it sometimes. The amount of time of investment, spamming macros, leading nubs its a bit of harassment ! If you fail people will criticize you and if you make a full run people will salute and join you more. Mostly pug runs are a shortcut of earning money but only do it if you know how to handle ******s and criticism ! I'd day you are right to some extent, as BOE from boss drops are needed by many but trash and primo drops can be reserved. But as far as i have BOE drops from bosses are rare too as all items r not BOE. After investing so much time in check and inspecting time till other raid members can farm professions or do some other important work in meantime, i am fully ok with BOE res. When your new or you really want a certain item it does pisses you off in start, but veterans like me or many out there, they dont care about it !
So my best suggestion is join a guild and buy that certain boe item u want at a discount. Instead of entertaining pugs, make friends and play with them. The moment you start soloing anger will cling to you all time and even make you Angry fellow in real life. So just chill and enjoy the game. Join a guild or make ur own.
Well thank you very much for your responses. But let me rephrase myself, I understand now that it is in fact hard to make a PuG work for ICC 25/TOC 25 and other 25 man. But people in the Icecrown server are also reserving BS plans, recipes and patterns EVEN if they don't have the profession. Then they would sell it at global to get money. Making PuGs for 10 man is quite easy and i've done my fair share of hosting. I understand that the primordial saronite is ok for reservation but BOEs just tend to be sold by the ones who reserve em. BOEs in ICC, usually drop 2 - 3 in 10 man and more at 25 man, you really can't say BOEs are that rare.
No one is forcing you to join their raids, joining someone's raid directly means you agree with their rules, if you don't like them don't join. At the end of the day u can always make your own raid instead of complaining how everyone wants 7kgs+ players or reserves boes. You want your rules? Host yourself.
^ Exactly right. @improvise If you'd like to see non-reserve raids, make them yourself. I'm sure people will join and maybe you can bring it back (about 2 years ago on molten reserving items in raids was unheard of).
However, why would anyone NOT reserve items if it is 1. accepted by the community and 2. payment for time spent building a raid? Would you like to be the first to willingly deny yourself 10-15k gold from hosting a 25 man raid? Especially when gold can be converted into coins, which can then be used on hc items or mounts in the store.
This, like many socially accepted norms, is unlikely to go away without players like yourself setting an example and starting the movement yourselves.
