Old WoW player looking to get back into WoW

Aye what's up. So, I'm currently looking for a server to start, I played TBC back in the days but don't remember much since I haven't played WoW at all for years. My question is do Locks in TBC suck, or I can get by?

    Top DPS in PvE.
    Works very well in arena.
Useless in 1v1 after BT comes due to shadow resistance gear. Only Destro will be somewhat viable here.

Warlock is a solid choice, Farm will be a little easier as well, + free mount-ish.

As said, Among Top Raid DPS , and Really High survivability//sustained dps in pvp with cc ofc.

lock was the best class for both pve and pvp and not overplayed too so you can easily get raid spots

good about warlock is they are probably best DPS class in PVE and for sure top PVP class if played well.
bad side of warlock is PVE rotation is very boring...as for PVP, 9 of 10 teams you will face rogues and you are not gonna have fun time vs rogues as warlock.

Thanks for your answers! Yeah, I'm more of a PvP player. Hopefully Affliction works well ;D.

Works in SP Afflilock, maybe rog lock, hpala lock works and maybe even rsham/disc+lock.
Saying potentially cus outside of 1 UA lock I've never seen any do good (outside of SP/lock) and the lock was far above average.
Recommend to learn sl/sl arena and the meta, then use other specs if you want (harder to do well with, not really better results it's about even if you play it right).

Destro same thing, works in a few combs but is harder.

Cannot speak for 3v3 not as developed as 2v2, I can see it work there.

My main in TBC was a lock. For DPS they are the best at pve. You can compete in blues and come the end game raiding you will be hard to match.

In PVP I have some feedback. The pvp spec for locks and the pve spec are nothing alike. In fact, if you want to do both you are going to need to switch back and forth a lot.

There are some good macros you can do with a lock but locks are squishy in TBC and lack good mobility. Thus, affliction tends to do a bit better as you can insta cast everything and it is hard to pillar you. The weakness, arena wise is if they target your pet. In pvp you will use your pet to soak up damage. If they kill your pet, you get an instant cast summon. However, it has a cooldown of (i think) 2 mins. So in 3s and 5s you are going to be target #1. You will turn into a fear bot and curser instead of doing any actual output. IE you will be trying to lock down healers. Also keep in mind that when it comes to pvp in BC, burst is king. Affliction lacks sans nightfall. The thing to do is get two affliction locks on a 5s team. The amount of rolling damage becomes insane and only one of them uses the placed curses (like tongues or elements).

Thanks for this man, appreciate it.

It would also be worth pointing out that at once point in the expansion dots did not get reduced damage wise by resilience. But since we are on 2.4.3 I am pretty sure the big lock nerf took effect (IE resilience now effects dots). PVP wise we took a big step backwards. Reduced damage, limited burst and limited mobility really made 2s tough for locks.

PVE wise we were top AOE with seed and top single target with either rolling dots and SB spam or just SB spam with the spec affectionately known as "dead hooker".
