No sound in game.

** ANSWER FOUND ** As I found in a different post, my anti-virus was causing my sound issues. I am using comodo antivirus and it had the TBC client in containment. Once i removed it and restarted the client it worked.

Just joined Warmane Outland server a few days ago. Now usually when you launch a new wow client, it will blast your stereos because of the cinematic and the sound settings haven't been altered yet, but that didn't happen. So once I was in game and fixed my settings I noticed I still don't have any sound. Here is a screencap of my sound settings

Now I'm not very good at fixing things like this but if I had to take a guess it's not detecting that I have anything plugged in. If anyone has a fix to this please let me know. Thank you for your time helping with my problem.

try this:
1. Restart your pc ( this is important)
2. open WoW folder > delete "WTF" folder
3. Delete "Interface" folder
4. open "Cache" > delete "WDB" folder
5. Now start the game

Unfortunately, this did not work. If you have anything else I could try I would love to know!

do you play on windows or a mac? what version?

What mouse do you use? ( Yes, I know it looks like it does not matter for a sound problem)

Make sure sound for WoW.exe is not muted. While in game, minimize WoW window, right click on the speakers icon at the right corner of your Windows taskbar > Open volume mixer > check if WoW.exe sound is not muted here.

try to make a test with MoP client, go here: https://www.warmane.com/download and select "MoP minimal". It is only 16 MB so the download will be fast, run the game ( it will take a few minutes to start) and lemme know if the sound work fine with this MoP client ( you can log-in in game with the same accoutn you use for TBC)

Just doubled checked, it isn't muted.

Tried the MoP client, sound worked fine on that client. I tried redownloading the TBC client as well but that didn't work.

Here you go, something I noticed is the Game Sound Output is highlight in MoP but not in TBC. Maybe TBC isn't detecting something?

ye, that is the problem.
Can you post the contents of your TBC client\Logs\sound.log file?
in spoiler tag would be better if you know how to di it

Where it says " Using [0] System Default for Game Output" i tried change the zero into a one, that didn't work but I was just taking a guess on that one.

I googled that error I got, most GMs that tried to help people with their problem asked for this

SOLVED... A possible solution

Ok, if you're here then you have done a google search for "no sound in wow" or the like. If you're having problems with sound in certain games coming through on realtek speakers yet have sound by other means then it's a windows 10 update that made your sonic studios or msi audio or the like obsolete.

The fix is simple... uninstall these applications that conflict with the sound. I uninstalled Asus Sonic Studios 3 (unaffiliated) and my speakers were back in working order.

Basically, these applications make it so the sound in game is redirected elsewhere in some fashion. So simply getting rid of these conflicting applications may make your speaker system work.
