Technical 2 step auth/forgot mail problem

I hope im not posting this in the wrong section but I got a friend that wants to start playing again but he's kinda stuck because he has his 2step auth activated from back in the day and can't remember on what mail he made the account on and he's trying to log in but can't find anything or something that could help him to "find" what mail does that account belong to so im wondering how could he retrieve his account back.Thanks in advance
