Characters gone on frostwolf

I Decided to go back to frostwolf to do some pvp on my characters, I haven't been on for about a year and I noitced that on both my accounts my characters were gone once I logged in on the website, Is this because of a reason or do I get them back once I log in on the client? If not is there any way to get my characters back?

I can't get my hands on the client atm but I would like to know before starting again.
