WotLK High Latency

Hello. During the past week I've run into quite a problem - my latency has rocketed sky high. I usually play Icecrown and Lordaeron, and before this week, high latency was only a problem when someone in my house was either downloading something or playing facebook games, etc. But in the past week the connection has become terribly unstable, with 90& latency being anywhere from 600 to 1500 ms. Now, I do suspect there might be something wrong with my internet connection at home, or, in the worst case, something is up with my laptop, because my friend, who plays in the USA (I'm from Northen Europe) does not have this kind of problem, but still, I would like to look into what could be causing these issues from the server/game side.

I've already tried to install Latency Optimizator, without much result. Very early in the mornings - like 5/6 am my time, the connection is bearable, but afterwards it goes to hell.

Does anyone have any advice? ALSO, I would like to try and ping the servers to see if perhaps, as I've read, my connection to the server for some reason is making a much longer way than it should (like, I don't know, signal being sent to Asia and then back or however that goes) - how could I check that? I can't seem to locate any IP address or whatever for these servers that I could ping.

Update: I've been playing Cataclysm for the last few hours, and the connection is excelent. I'm starting to suspect more and more that something is wrong with how my data is being sent and recieved by the WOTLK servers. Any idea why/how to fix it?
