It's been just two days that I have discovered the existence of WOW private server and - since I always wanted to play the game - I have been digging into the subject.
I have been trying Firestorm, however the game is incredibly buggy, with missing NPCs/Quests, wrong tracking, NPCs without quest text, quests that complete themselves without me actually doing something, NPCs that gives me later quests breaking the chain, etc... all at a lower level such as lvl 5. So I am off to trying to find a private server that is not as buggy and lets me enjoy the storyline without having to sweat to find my next quest.
So, before I download and set up everything, I would like to hear from the players of the server an honest opinion about this one. Please let me know if it's worth downloading for someone who is less into PVPing and more into storyline. Thanks!
Im from the Molten Core age (more than 5 years ago) and WoTLK went from buggy to smooth. Now playing hunter at extra slow leveling, to do all the instance and quest i can before the 80.
Here is no RDF, because you need to do friendlist of people, need to sell, need to be in a guild. You can go all solo player, but in the Lordaeron server the life its hard, and friend and good people do it better.
I would actually like to play Mists of Pandaria, since I'd love to play a Monk... How bad is the experience? Also, in your experience if a quest is bugged in a server, will it be bugged in another server as well?
I've only played TBC Outland server, but I'd say it's pretty stable. There are a couple of bugged quests (e.g."Perform some action using this item in this location" and is bugged such that the item/quest never recognizes the location, so you cannot use it or complete the quest), but the vast majority work fine.
Other bugginess I've seen is with the LFG tool (TBC was merely a listing service, prior to the LFD tool), it seems to bug out if you attempt to swap willy nilly around the dungeon listings quickly. Not a huge problem so long as you're patient with it, but for the most part folk seem to have abandoned using it, and rely upon a global chat channel and spaming "LFM, need tank for [whatever]" instead.
Other one that is a bit of a pain is the combat log. Bugged up real good, and sometimes difficult to review what you've been doing or what caused your death, if you're into that kind of thing. Also means that damage meters are broken. There are macros to fix this and work around it, but it's a tad bit of a hastle. It can be noted that combat itself functions just fine...it's just the log that's not recording/reporting things in the chat window.
