1. Stupid beyond belief...

12k+ server on a SINGLE server which is Outland.
I am not blaming warmane staff because I believe a huge chunk of "players" are actually bots. Server crashes and server side lags all day long. I understand bots are getting banned daily and yet, the situation is just a pure ****ing joke. Those who expect a single realm with 12k+ people on it to function the way it should are morons.

Just a rant, those who bot go **** yourselves.

  2. We must be on different servers then because I play 3 to 5 hours each day and I don't experience "All day long lag" that you're talking about. Maybe our playing hours are different.

Yes the server disconnects sometimes (happened to me twice so far). But the over all up time is closer to 98% (from my personal experience). Also 90% of the time during my playing hours my latency is 80~90 (I live far away) and 10% of the times I do experience 180~210 latency. Still playable by my standards.

Every private server faces the issues that you are talking about but trust me on this, the uptime I've seen here on Warmane is far superior than other "popular" TBC servers.

Also note that whenever there's a private server that's doing good, some people are actively trying to bring it down. I am sure Warmane faces the same problem.

  3. Outland reaches 12k for about an hour at peak. The Medivh merge, from the sound of things, might account for anywhere between 100 and 1000 players (not necessarily all at peak).

I play NA west coast, and range in latency from 60ms to 150ms, which is perfectly fine for play. I cannot recall a time at all in the past when I've received any ping spikes, and I've never seen the server crash outside of forewarned maintenance.

Perhaps you play on sub-par internet services?

  4. There's no lag, that's not the issue.. the issue is that farm spots are completely overrun with bots and multiboxers.. Go ahead and log in, there are currently 27 druid cat bots at elemental plateau alone. There are also 5 sets of multiboxers farming clefthoof leather.
There are 4 multiboxers farming Eclipsion Point.
there are druid bots farming void ridge
there are druid bots farming primal airs at every location.

the problem with this much population on the server is that farming anything decent becomes completely impossible. It's a "PvP" server, but you can't exactly PvP as a single player vs 4 groups of 5 multiboxers, and no matter how fast you kill the bots, you can only kill them 1 by 1, and by the time you kill 1, another 3 have ressed up and are farming again.

  5. you can only kill them 1 by 1, and by the time you kill 1, another 3 have ressed up and are farming again.
yeah it's like trying to destroy a locust infestation with a broad sword

  6. yeah it's like trying to destroy a locust infestation with a broad sword
I'm afraid I have to agree.
The botting population is growing from what I can tell. But many avoid being spotted by players because they have turned to a new yet very income rich environment, namely: Dungeons with multiboxing (or multi-botting to be more specific).
They seem to enter in groups of 5 and destroy the trash within, and if I have to guess, disenchants all loot they come across. I have yet to see them be able to clear dungeons like Stratholme, Scholomance or UBRS, but they are more than capable of doing ST and BRD judging by the cat-dens outside.

Now I have reported before that Silithus, Western/Eastern Plaguelands and Winterspring (to name a few zones) are completely overrun with bots. But now there's not only druids. As of late I have detected an alarming increase of demonology warlocks and mages.
If this keeps up it will destroy the player incentive to farm in the world and while I shudder at the thought, it might actually be best just to legalise botting if the current efforts to rid the server of them keeps up at this pace.

Now don't look at my rant above and conclude that I dislike Warmane. I love their servers and I believe they are the best ones (hence why I play them). They have excellent scripts in form of working quests, mobs, dungeons, raids, PvP spells etc. There's next to nothing wrong with the Warmane realms.
The only downside with Outland per se are the bots. I believe that they make up almost 6-10% of the population at this point.
I bring this issue up, not because I am personally affected (I earn my gold via the AH), but newer players have a hard time getting gold for their spells by doing quests or gold in general via farming when the bots are crawling around in several parts of the world, snagging every vein/herb or herding mobs needed for quests that come in their way.

My point is that this small problem risks overshadowing everything else that is great about Outland. I am sure the Warmane staff are aware of this and I also reckon they do what they can with what resources they have.
Alas Outland is not their only server and so it is understandable why they can't oblige with having a "bot-police" in every zone. But I believe a good idea could be to perhaps for a few days, concentrate the staff attention on this matter in a very intense way, perhaps that will stop this plague.

  7. I'm new here and i've been seeing multiboxing bots all over the place. I thought Warmane was known for its anti cheat systems?

  8. Multibox should not be allowed. I can see how cool it would be to work on those toons, learn to manage them all, and solo content. It sounds great but it ruins the experience for everyone else. I've read that this argument is old and won't see change- just my two cents. I would suggest shortening respawn timers but that will create other problems to deal with.

  9. Meh, my experience in BGs on this server so far is our team farming Alliance at graveyards because as soon as they spawn they're taking a 5 multibox shaman chain lightning to the face and dying....

This has got to stop. Multiboxing is completely ridiculous.

Multiboxing and botting are not the same thing. That said, the anti-cheat does do a lot of work, but it can only do so much. This was only a rant thread, so I'm going to close it before people continue to hijack it to complain about multiboxing (please read the forum rules).
