What is happening behind-the-scenes when I hit 'Login' ?

I cannot get past 'Connected' in Icecrown when logging in after being authenticated successfully. What could this be a sign of? Is it the server, or me?

Generally speaking with how the server has been acting for the past month or more, I'm inclined to say it's the server that's the issue. Lately, it seems as though the login server/software/hardware that hosts the login server program/files is having difficulties communicating with the rest of the internet.

Your guess is as good as mine, but the only example I could possibly give is if you've ever tried to host a server off your own device, without opening ports for the listening/receiving. No communication = no connection. (Feel free to bash me for this explanation. I'm not a tech expert, so.. Yeah.)

The weird thing is I can get on Blackrock and Lordaeron, which makes me think it is Icecrown. But then I look at the Warmane homepage and see 6,000+ players online on Icecrown, which makes me think it's me.

I've gotten DC'd twice now and ****ed by the login server for over 15mins before being able to connect to the server again. It's really frustrating when you spend time to make a raid or raid has to wait/replace you due to it....

I keep getting disconnected and then I'm unable to log in for 15-20 minutes. Everyone else in my guild is fine. Is it random? Regional?

Looks like it is the server ... Warmane homepage now only has 2 people online in Icecrown server.
