As someone who donates frequently, I was wondering if we could get points match for every coin donated?
I do not believe that would cause any type of misbalance - it would just be a conenience feature for members who are supporting warmane.
For example, I’ve donated some coins today for my new DK and I could find points very useful to prepare it a bit more for BGs until I gear up or donate for more gear.
So, if I donate for 50 coins(+bonus according to my rank) I get also the same amount of points, matching number od coins.
I could be mistaken, but the purpose of points as I understood them was to be an incentive for longevity of play. Gaining achievements and playing characters for days months and years on end will warrant a player the added benefit of being able to shop with points.
The coin system is in place to provide incentive for players to donate real world currency to the warmane staff for services, maintenance, and upkeep.
The point system should have nothing to do with real life currency, and would be degraded by any such association. If you want to obtain gear as a result of donating money, the coin system is already in place, and the proper way to do attain that gear.
Gaining achievements and playing characters for days months and years on end will warrant a player the added benefit of being able to shop with points.
This argument doesn’t hold water. People who donate are active and they are obtaining achievements. Point system is too slow and ALMOST useless if you go by daily rate of 1.2 points.
There is not a single reason why we wouldn’t be able to get point match.
Also, I think that the whole point of this point systems is not to use it and to donate.
6/7 years ago you could get 5 points per day and in a month enough points to get 2-3-4 entry level PvE or PvP items, same as mounts (Nether drakes - they cost coins now).

It's meant to be slow. They're free points that players can get by playing the game and doing one mouse click once a day. It's stuff you get from doing nothing.

Not only what you say contradicts your suggestion - why would you care about points if their point is to not be used? - they are separate things with separate purposes. Points, again, are free and limited in what they can be used with because of that.

Years ago you also were voting for us on ranking websites, which isn't the case anymore. After repeated bad experiences with those sites, we've had no interest in being part of them, and still we didn't completely trash the point system - which would be well justified, as there was no more "voting" - and reformulated it so players could still get stuff for doing effectively nothing besides playing the game they are here to play, despite us having no real incentive to keep it going (guess how much of an incentive it is to keep hearing people ***** that "points are useless").
Well, IMO - having something useless and slow for FREE doesn’t mean it’s good and I have all rights to criticise it.
This point system is bad and needs a change so you guys can make your gaming community even happier and I’ve offered one way to do it.
It’s completely different thing if it’s going to be accepted. It’s just something that would make me and probably other donors feel happier.
Bottom line: FREE doesn’t mean GOOD. It’s better to turn a useless feature OFF (or improve it) than to consider it good since it’s free.
Živio.
No, you got that wrong. The real bottom-line is: not good for you, doesn't means it isn't good at all. Points work for what they are meant to do. You aren't making a suggestion to make points "good," just to get more of them in a way they aren't meant to be received. If points are "useless" for you, simply don't collect them - and I'll say again that I can't wrap my head around the concept of insisting on getting more of something "useless" when you make a donation.
