I was wondering if it's possible to donate in my friend's behalf so he can skip the queue in Icecrown without having to hand me over his account information. I want it to be a 'surprise' for his upcoming birthday. Could anyone shed some light into this matter? Thanks in advance.

no, it is not possible.
You can only send him Coins but he will not get premium status.

It has the unfortunate effect of ruining part of the surprise factor, but we have to consider how people would abuse that to "sell" coins for real money and all the potential for scams that would carry with it as well.

If you want to Surprise him. Get (if your country supports it) a Paysafecard and give him the Code. Or send him a Prepaid Loaded Creditcard Number like those from Mycard2go. You can do that online there and upload some bucks on it and then he can use that.

Probably not wise to actively encourage account sharing.

Account security is a fairly important thing in today's day and age, and Warmane will have little-to-no pity for you should your account become compromised (missing gold, items, characters, etc.) and there is evidence that you did not keep account details secure at all times (regardless of whether it was the fault of your friend or of a third-party hacker).

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately the Subway card would not work as he does not leave anywhere near me and I think that's just an option to USA players? Also, is it punishable if another IP address is detected in his account? Like, I'm inclined to do Deathtear's recommendation but I want to know if it could have any repercutions to his account.

Technically it's not punishable, as people move, go on trips and other things that change their IPs, just very inadvisable.

This is the best option, and you could always message him the info of the card you decide to go with. No real "need" for him to be near you for the numbers needed to input the cards code. Or share his account info. In any case, good luck!
