As you know right now economy is in a major stand-still players have been farming items and gold for years. Gold has been halved in the past 2 years which made it rather valuable. But everything else got really abundant and easy to get. You can buy most items and mats for less than 100g. There is simply too many of those items on the servers. It's hard for new players to make gold because nothing is worth much. Items are over farmed by bots too. So I suggest a 1 time item wipe of the servers. Wipe every single item that's not soulbound or marked as a quest item. This will create demand for things. People will start buying things on the AH again. You can even delete peoples gems and enchants. All of this would make the economy moving again, it would remove full guild banks of botted items by Chinese gold farmers. RIght now I have enough items stored to level 20 + toons to 80 without having to ever use the AH. I have enchanting mats, stacks of metal, gems, leather, herbs, flasks, ink I got banks full of rare low level items that I use to level new toons. I am sure most people have what I have. Nobody is buying stuff on AH anymore. WE NEED TO CREATE DEMAND! Because nobody needs anything in wow right now. Everybody has stuff stockpiled on alts.
PS: Before you start crying about loosing all your hard earned stuff I would also be loosing 2 mil worth of mats and so is everyone else.
WoW is an RPG, not an economy simulator. The economy is sufficient for the game's purposes as is.
If you've got 2M worth of stockpiled materials after several years playing a two-year expansion, perhaps it's time to consider that you're done with this game, and move on to new things.
