Site Is there a cap on coins that can be spent?

I heard from a player that there exists a cap on how many coins you can spend which depends on how many coins you've bought in the past. In other words, it is possible that you can't spend coins you've received via gifting or the marketplace if you haven't bought enough coins with your own money before. Is that correct?

There is no such cap. If you have managed to obtain those coins, you can spend them. There was a temporary cap for amount of coins you can get from trading but that's either removed or set very high now.
