WotLK Cannot rename flagged toon

Hi there. I haven't been online in a long time and I noticed that my character name has been flagged for some reason. I can't recall what it was but nonetheless I can't seem to rename it to something I know is available because I checked the armory to make sure. I tried multiple names but it keeps asking me to enter one after submitting it. I'm worried about the gear I had on it as well.

On a side note, the only category I was able to select is Ban Appeal. I don't recall being banned especially permanently. There are no existing bans to choose from either so I can't log a support ticket either.

If you haven't used the character for more than a year, it probably got its name removed because of inactivity. Low level characters don't show up in armory so those names might be taken by low level characters. You can use another character and try to add those names in your friends list to check if character with that name exists. Also WoW client contains a list of names that can not be used because they are against Blizzards character naming policy.

not-premium account can only create "ban appeal" ticket, that is why you do not see any other kind of category.

If you want support from a GM you may open a ticket in-game with a different character
