BitTorrent virus scam

hi i downloaded bittorrent from the link in the downlads and i clicked no to opera browser but it downladed web companion for me and added an add-on in my google chrome. i tought it downloaded me a virus i was scared why you would do that link a virus its my mums computer.

I'm not sure what either of you downloaded but I just verified our links are safe, you can even check the VirusTotal scan for BitTorrent.exe here. It's listed as a potentially unwanted program if anything.

I got the client to check from here, make sure you click the purple download button instead of any ads that say download.

If you want to remove the extension, in Chrome open menu (icon with 3 dots in top right corner) and go to More tools > Extensions.

If you want a torrent client that doesn't install random programs if you forget to uncheck some checkboxes during installation, try qBittorrent: https://www.qbittorrent.org/

It often happens before downloading a program: Adware. You can decline the adware by erasing the hook and approving.

To remove adware, go to control panel (you can find it in the left corner, then left-click), uninstall a program, choose the adware (by looking at the dates) and uninstall it. Adware is an added program and you can find it there. After the extinction it will remove from your pc (or your mum's pc)

oh no thank you all but im not good with computer what is a control panel and i removed extended from chrome but i think nothing happened my mum did not say anything and the computer is working good
