Hi, I just hit level 80 and I don't know how to progress further. How do I get better gear and what should I do first? Heroic dungeons then raids?

Check auction house if you have the cash, some good pieces of level 80 gear can go for surprisingly cheap.
Then do normal dungeons till you have the gear level for heroic ones.
Make sure you have a faction tabard equip, then spam the hell out of heroic dungeons, if you do nothing but spam them all day you can get enough emblems of triumph to be maxed out on that gear relatively soon.
Also when you can try to get in an ICC rep farm group for that sweet ring.

Quests (mainly for rep and money) while in RDF queue. Check AH for some cheaper items you could buy, to boost your avg ilvl so you can get into RDF HC. While doing that, try to get a spot in FoS PoS runs.
